Due Date Club May 2008:Rolling over in sleep with face down
2008-09-23
Name: Sabitha Jayashankar

Abhishek is always rolling over in sleep. What worries me is when he does that his face is completely down against the mattress,so his nose is pressed against the mattress.I tried making him sleep with two pillows sideways. That time he is pulling the pillow and it falls on his face.Usually we make him sleep in bassinet. As soon as u put him in bassinet he rolls over in sleep with face down.So nowadays iam making him sleep next to me sideways. That way when he wants to feed he can do that.My doctor doesnt recommend baby sleeping in same bed as ours. But if u make him sleep in bed/bassinet and iam not there u can see him sleeping on tummy with face down.
Next problem,i started him on solids.Ever since that he is going potty only every alternate day.he used to go 2 to 4 times daily when i was exclusively breastfeeding.the texture of stools have changed from watery to paste texture.First i thought rice cereal was the cause.i changed to oatmeal.Iam also giving him pear puree which is said to be good for constipation.still he is not going.Iam trying raisin water ,hope it works.r any other babies having this problem.I cant say its constipation because texture of stool is not yet hard.I can say stool frequency has reduced.but if it continues like this stool will become hard(my elder one was and is always constipated).

Try using pacifier so that the nose is not pressed.

Hey Sabitha..i am surprised as i am also having the same problems and was going to raise the question in the board but as was not well so got delayed, anyways it seems that word to word is going on same with Reyansh :)...
As he had started rolling...oh my god!!!!!!! its just impossible to keep in bach while sleep ,as soon as we keep him on his back ,he just rolls over and that too he is in deep sleep ,he does the same and then starts fussying as his face is down and nose is pressed.I had started to keep pillow on the side i kow he roles most ,cant make him sleep in our bed as its very soft,so make him sleep in swing and then when he is asleep ,shift to the crib.but still in the middle of night he rolls...About potty i think its normal. If you or anyone comes with any idea then its most welcome :)

Sabitha, don' t worry about the potty. It' s very very common for babies to go potty every 2-3 days. When they are around 4-5 months, babies don' t go poop regularly every other day. Some babies don' t go poop for 10-12 days and trust me it' s NORMAL. As long as the poop doesn' t come out hard and your baby isn' t crying while he goes poop...then it' s normal and nothing to worry. My baby used to go poop everyday, but for the last 1 month, she' s been going only for every 4 days. I did check with the Dr just in case and he' s totally not worried abt it. So no worries!

yes its pretty worrying .. leave aside the doc ..if ur comfortable sleeping wth baby in same bed ( only u nt ur husband)continue doing so i m sleeping wth ishaan frm age 5days u jst have to be extra carefull use the indian type heavy bolsters ...even ishaan can kick nd pick them but against them i have put ina v heavy sotton pillow which he cant move...also regarding solids it is said an infants gut is virgin and it takes min 5 mnths to close it and solids by anychance shouldnt b started reason being he wont b able to process it and the sam ething is happening for abhi i beleive worldwidw the indian way of introducing solids has vbeen considerd the best even WHO approves it ...try on the rice water or kanji it wrks excellently or may b the dal water and then slowly move on to solids in any form ishaan stool is slowly changing to past and sticy and its colour is no longer bright yellow it is now chorome yellow in colour
give time to close their gut their intestines r v immature
