Name: Raising head

Hi, my baby was born 30 days before due date. She is now 4 1/2 months old. She hates tummy time. Her head is now stable, but wobbly sometimes, which is very common. I' m not worried about that. My problem is that when she is on tummy, she will not raise her head. she will just keep rubbing her face and keep on crying. She will not raise her head at all. Is this ok? Dr says she should raise her head, so keep more tummy time. But everytime I do, she cries so much. Does your babies raise their head when they are on their tummy? please help!

Many babies hate to be on their tummies but docter suggests atleast 15 min of tummy time daily as it good for their neck and chest muscles.even my kiddo hates to be on his tummy what i use to do is keep him on his tummy for few minutes and before he started to cry ,use to switch him on different position and vice versa...it worked for me as my kiddo is staying for longer time on his tummy...

hi...yeah, putting baby on lap as Sabitha suggested is a good idea, i do that quite often with my son, as he also hates tummy time. Also, when u put ur baby on tummy on a flat surface try to prop her chest by putting some pillow, this helps babies raising their head.

I think at this age baby' s head does wobble a bit.I think ur baby hates being on tummy and even trying to raise headd. She is able to support her neck to some extent so her neck is strong.U can make her lie down on ur lap with her chest and tummy on ur lap.She will lie horizondally on ur lap.Does she raise her head that time,u can massage her back which will be soothing for her.If its very cocnerning u can ask her doctor

Yes they do...but only for few seconds or mins..again they put their head down for rest...but as you are saying she doesnt like it...may be that is the reason she is not raising her head also may be she has not started complete rollover..give some time she will do it...but dont forcefully put her on tummy.
