My son is eating rice cereal it has been 3 weeks since he has been on this he is eating atleast 3 tablespoons cereal to 6 tbsp milk
About cleaning gums you can wait until he starts eating solids like pureed foods i l;ooked iinto this and i read that oragel teething gel can only be applied after 6-7 months so i am not applying anything untill i see teeth appear
my son is eating cereal twice a day now and because he is eating atleast 6tblsp in a day he is now going to start oatmeal then i will introduce barley.
I am taking things very slowly as my neighbour she introduced carrots to her son he is 4.5 months and he developed a rash so i want to start after 6 months this way there are less chances of allergic reactions. You can leave cleaning gums till 6-7 months i am going to do the same.

About dal and stuff like that i think better to start after 7 months as these are good foods for baby rich in protien but becasuse we add salt and ghee things like this in is not good for baby i am all for giving baby foods until they are 7 months as after they taste our foods they dont like baby foods and because baby foods contain no salt and sugar and ;preserves this is best for them at this age
