Health Issues:Hetal & other moms- a question regd. baby´ s vision
2007-04-04
Name: a concerned mom
Hi Hetal and others,
I have a 10 month old daughter and I am really concerned about her vision - the problem is that some times her right eye appears to be crossed. It doesn' t happen always...but if you look closely, then it does appear that way (a few times). I talked with her doctor regd the same and she didn' t suggest anything significant. She did an eye exam for a few seconds and said she didn' t see any problem at that point of time. But as I said, this doesn' t happen always...so I was just wondering if you and others can throw light on this.
Is there anything that I can do to prevent it. Has any other mom also noticed the same problem?? If so, what did you do??
By the way, we have no family history of any eye problem in our family.
Please please suggest something.

Hetal replied. its normal to have crossd eyes at 10months,,most babies get out of it by 12-15months.if it makes you feel better, even my daughter had it until 7months..
try this :
1. catch his attention and move some good coloured toy from left to right slowly viz a versa when he is on his back...make sure he moves his eyes to it and responds well...let it be fun time allthe time once a while..dont force to make him do that,,do it while dipaer change, bath, while changing him, and it will easy for you.
move th toy in right left, up and down,,and it will help.
2. give her toys that required hand and eye cordnatn..toys like piano, baby jim, are excellent in hand n eye cordnatn. there are some other toys like hit the moving monkey, etc and it helps him corndate his muscles well.
3. books ! great !! read the book while pointing your finger on the line or the words as and when you read..let him follow your finger..great practice for eye cordnatn if your child is a peaceful soul who likes to sit !
4. some videos, like baby einstein, have those puppet shows, dancing toys and such,,help in cordnatn, as the object dances and moves and point him towards it and it will give him this exercise !
5. ball game, the best,,get a small sized ball and roll it to him. the rolling of ball gives him movements..make sure to roll in all direction and allow him to crawl towards it and grab it ...
if by 15months, your child still has same prob,,by thn your dr itself will show a concern at 1year apt and will suggest somethings..it has nothign to do with vision,,its just the eye cordnatn which is due to eye muscles n it requires lots of good activities that i described above,,
sometimes its due to parents gift too,,but since you said thats not the case at your end,,so,,it shouldnt be a prob !
good luck.

RE: Eczema concern
Hello,
I had a similar query a few months ago concerning eczema occuring in toddlers. As far as I know, it can be due to a varrying number of factors and common foods that end up causing the condition in 1-2 year old toddlers.
In my research I found this article really helpful in addressing the problem:
