Hi,
Anybody from Herndon, VA?
We are planning to move to Herndon, VA. I would like to know how the indian community there and the cultural programs etc. I have a 4year old kid. I appreciate if anyone gives me some details on the schools in that area.

It may be a bit late but I have been living in VA (not in Herndon but close to it) for about eight years. There is a big Indian community here. I am not from Karnataka / Andhra but I know some families from those parts of India and from what they say, the Telugu and Kannada associations are very active in this area. I have attended some cultural events in the local temples here that include music and dance performances by young children. And from what I have heard, there are instructors in this area who teach Indian music and dance, some of whom are disciples of famous Indian dancers / musicians themselves.

There are good preschools (both Montessori and regular) in that area. And if your son will be starting Kindergarten this September, there are many Private schools. If you plan to send him to Public school, you may have to find out the school (based on your address here) and then get the required information.

Ravi replied. Welcome to USA , my name is Ravi i have been in USA since 12 years in Virginia i my slef have a 31/2 year boy.
Desi community here is very huge , you will be surprised ,you will find more then your kids need as far as the cultural programs , i am not sure what exactly you are looking for but more then any thing i personally feel kids here are more self confident then kids in INDIA.
