I got to see ur reply for my earlier post on Hydronephrosis....I am in my 22nd week now and was detected for bilateral hydronephrosis. I am also called in for a scan again at 26th week...
Can u let me know if the mesaurements were same in between your two scans or how it is??
BTW, r u in India?. I am in blr...

fetal Hydronephrosis

Hi I am currently 32 weeks pregnant carrying twins...yest the doctor found one of my baby is having kidney dilation...i m really worried and in the same situation as u were years back...pls help...how is ur baby doing now???

hi vidhya,,

sorry if i put u in more confusion. i had to get
amniocentesis done ,because the cyst or dilation of
renal pelvis is a very slight marker r for down
syndrome. it is a minor procedure and usually they
take some amount of amino fluid and test fro any
genetic abnormalities. i got it done last month in my
20 Th week and results were normal. they are some
risks of amino ,like miscarriage,i took that risk
because i wanted piece of mind. ask u r doctor if u
can do it now and all the details.

hi,
thanks for replying back. I really needed to speak to somebody who is going through the same.
the measurement had increased the second time, it was measuring 5mm and now 7 mm. still my doctors say dont worry ,which is impossible.
i read somewhere else that u will be going to Urologist this week, please provide me details.
do u know the sex of the baby. they say boys have more common finding then girls. i leave in San diego ,US . i am trying yo make on appt myself with the urlogist.it is very disturbing. please do mail me any other details u have, i will do the same. take care swarna

hi swarna,

I am meeting my dr tomorrow and i will let u know the updates. Meanwhile can u tell me what exactly you mean by this sentence " had my amnio done to rule out any genetic abnormalities since it is marker for down syndrome" - Do we need to do the amnio since the foetus is suspected of hydronephrosis. Pls reply to this at the earliest so that i can check with my dr tomorrow.

Have u gt the results of amnio test. How is it usually performed and for wht?.

hi vidhu

i got my scanning done in my 25 th week. they have asked me go back after 8 weeks. i have not spken to GYn yet , but after my 18 th week scanning my gyn told me nothing to worry, even if it there after the birth they will just monitor unless it does not go up to 25 mm.they will give antibiotics treatment which is the only treatment for now, after the baby is born that is .i had my amnio done to rule out any genetic abnormalities since it is marker for down syndrome. now i have just have to pray and wait.please let me know what u r dR says and i will keep the upadte as well

hi,

Dont worry. i have stopped worrying as nothing is achieved...I dont it is very hard but am trying to divert my mind...I gt the measurements as 14mm and 10mm...This report is n my 23rd week...Which week did u take this scan?.
No i have not yet planned on meeting a urologust as of now, I am yet to show these reports to my dr on friday...So after discussing with her i will think wht to do next. Will update u...
BTW, from ur post i get to know that u have already shown the reports to dr...Wht exactly did they say?. Did u ask them wht if the size is found to increase in further scans??? Pls let me know all these so tht i get some clarity b4 i meet the dr...
