I just wanted to mention something that was told to me at my last sonogram. Apparently after week 34-35, the babies' sizes can be off by as much as 3 weeks and still be OK. The margin of error itself is +/- 17 days from due date. Since there have been conversations in this board about baby's sizes being small or big, I wanted to share this info....so don't worry if yours is a little off...

Thx for sharing the info. I too asked my doc on the last visit and she suggested the same that U/S don't determine baby's weight accurately, so fundal measurements are more reassuring. Big or little well, baby still has some time to grow, so we will find out next mth.

Hi Priya, the info sure is a relief.. from what I've heard although an Ultrasound is not always right on the mark when it comes to determing the baby's weight, it is most of the time a good estimate of the actual weight and yes, like Vindhya says, a steady increase in fundal height is surely a good indicator of the baby's growth....

That's a relieving information. +/- 17 days off is a lot, but if they say it is OK, I guess we should not be concerned. I am not sure if U/S can be accurate in determining the weight either.

As my doctor says, if they see a steady increase in the fundal height, they wouldn't worry.
