Hi Kanchan,

I believe that any fad diet may help you lose weight temporarily but will it help you to keep that weight off for the rest of your life? NO

Fitness and health are FOR LIFE. Which means that you will have to develop healthy habits slowly but practise them all your life to remain fit.

Start with one good health habit per week:
1) Drink 8 glasses of water each day: you can start with 3 glasses and increase the quantity each week

2) Walk 5 days a week for 1/2 hr. Again start with 15 mins for 3 days and increase

3) Eat 6 small meals in a day instead of 3 heavy meals

4) Have an very light and early dinner.

5) Eat atleast 3 fruits a day (again start with 1 fruit a day and then increase quantity)

6) Have a fresh salad with every meal. The salad should not have too much oil, mayo or other dressings

7) When you fill your plate, fill it with salad, curd, veggies, dal first. Fill the remaining little portion with rice/chappatis.

8) You can eat anything you want but reduce your portion sizes. If you noramally eat 2 portions of rice reduce it to 1-1/2 and then 1. If you have 5 chappatis reduce it to 3 slowly. if you normally have 4 pizza slices... eat only 2. If you like chips, instead of eating a bag of chips eat only a cup.

9) Chew your food. Eat slowly. There is nothing like eating slowly and chewing properly to prevent over eating

10) Never skip breakfast. It starts your metabolism for the day and your system breaks down food better throughout the day.

11)Dont keep junk food in the house. It is very easy to feel tempted to eat junk if you have it ready in the house

12) And finally, become active. Take the stairs instead of the lift. Do some dusting or cleaning when you are watching TV. Walk to the store. Etc etc. every little activity that you do adds up and helps

These tips really help. But these are lifelong habits that you need to cultivate.
