Yes..that's what I like to call myself..a warrior protescting my baby!
I am on insulin shots, diet and exercise and all is well now..was diagnosed with GD at 28 weeks.
Anyway...at first my doc recoed Glyburide..a safe drug for pregnancy(I researched it well) but I could not take it as it is a sulfa drug and I am allergic to sulfas. Insulin is teh safest option. I do not know about the drug u have mentioned..better to research it on the net...I have not come across this name in all my research about treatment option for GD.
Your readings are high...let me know if u need any help with the diet plan...I can tell u what works for me.
Good Luck AND DON'T WORRY...u are not alone!

Hi,
I too have a gd problem and on diet and exercise. Luckily for me its controlling with diet. I previously had this insulin problem so doc prescribed me to use Metformin but after 1month I got pregnat and she told me to use till 13weeks and to stop afterthat she told me that they r not sure how it effects the baby after 3mths(I don't want to scare u but this is my doc told to me) . U make sure again with your doc and have faith in doc and God.
keep posted with your update

Dear Chinky, Anamika

GD is a common problem in pregnancy, especially in the third trimester. My doc asked my to focus on diet and exercise and did that very seriously for 15 days. However my sugar level was quite erratic. I monitored the readings everyday and noticed my post dinner was really bad (ranging 160-220). Post breakfast and lunch were within control. He has now put me on insulin with dose 6-8-8 before each meal and asked me to record the readings. Im hoping the levels are in control this time.

Im not sure about the tablets you said, because most people i know are on insulin. Hope somebody can help you about this.

But diet and exercise are a must. Walk everyday for min 30 mins is essential. Have lots of salads and soup. Take small walks after each meal. I tried all that and yet im on insulin :-( But hoping it will improve.

Take care
Rids

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
