Articles:Does your child yell back at you?

Shamita glared at her mom, threw her arms in the air and started yelling back. Her mother's face turned red and she yelled at Shamita for yelling at her. This dual continued on for the next hour. Back in the old days, children obeyed their parents and did not fight back even when their parents were wrong. However, today, children have a mind of their own and will shout and yell back at you.

But why do children become rude? What do you do when your child behaves rudely?

In our case it happens many times, specially when my daughter's untimely ideas or plans are not accepted or when we disagree with her in front of outsiders. In first case, we tell her that her plan or demand can't be met at that time with proper reason and solution. Then we just ignore her. During this time her yelling and shouting increases. We go to other room and try to be very firm. After 5-10 minutes she automatically cools down and starts asking about our decision. At this time, we try to explain her not to shout on elders etc etc. Sometimes it works well, sometimes not. About shouting in front of outsiders, sometimes we ignore, sometimes we try to listen to her or one of us just takes her away from that environment and changes the topic.
