Is it safe to give Date Fruit (only the small touch) for the newly borned baby . it is a tradition in Pakistan to give \" ajwa date fruit\" (from saudi arabia)to newly borned. people also give honey to the new borned but i have convienced my in laws not to give honey.and i have alot of material for this. but i m blank on ajwa date fruit Hetal replied. if its the tradition to offer just once in a very lil namesake qty,,for some goodwill,,its better to respect it,,if you cant convince or argue with the crowd around you tht it cant be given !

other wise, its not advisable to offer date fruit or ajwain to newborn.,,healthwise, both are hot nature foods and if given might harm the baby. ajwain is good to relieve gas, but its too hot for newborn,,its ok to offer ajwain water after your child is like 1month old and onwads and not before that.
for dates,,its too high in fibr and has high sugars and its calorifc value is also higher which a newborn doesnt need..
all newborn needs is bm or formula,,which is just right to give them all they need !
