Hi dhriti,

i am a mom of a 4 month old and thankfully he sleeps at around 10.30-11.00 and wakes up at around 4 in the morning for a 5 minute feed and then directly at 6 or 7. i know what your friend is going through i have gone through it too. the trick is to tire the child so much by playing with them that they sleep through the night. from the schedule that you have given i think there is no spacing in the solids that you are feeding. solids should be ideally given for breakfast at around teo and then the last one at around 6 or sevn. before giving the last feed try massaging the baby with lotion or oil that calms them and has a soothing effect and most important change the lights- we switch off the tubelight and turn on the lamps and then i feed. my child has started associating with the change in light that it is bedtime. hope this is helpful.

I guess you are breastfeeding which is good. Give her mashed carrots/apples in small quantities in the morning. Continue your schedule. At 9pm or so give cereal(rice/oatmeal etc) mixed with milk. Just before sleep feed her milk. If that does not work, increase the quantity of cereal little bit. Basically see that her stomach should be full. She's 51/2 months so now she does'nt need milk after every 2/3 hrs and should be able to sleep for 5/6 hrs at night at a stretch.

hi dhriti,
ur feeding schedule is ok but apart from cereal and milk u can give her different types of food ..like mashed fruits, cooked and mashed vegetables and even well cooked rice..babies need milk during nights only the first 3months...so whenever ur baby cries for milk during night u can give her water or can take her into ur arms and put her to sleep...i dont think thats an easy job ..but i bet it may not take more than a week ...

Sleep Problem due to itchy skin
My baby girl is unable to sleep properly due to skin rashes. I have resumed oil massages to help calm her down and facilitate better sleep, using CITTA Baby Massage Oil. Additionally, I am applying the ointment recommended by her doctor for the rashes. Could you please provide me with more ideas that can promote better sleep for her?... - Sanchari Tarafdar [View Message]

RE:How to Develop a Sleep Routine for your Newborn
According to me this is good but then you cannot force your child to sleep as per your wish as kids as really bad in this and they have a tendency to sleep in day and get up in late night so according to me this is not the key to success, please post if i am wrong.... - Anita [View Message]
