Nurseries and Schools:my son clings to me all the time....
2006-05-16
Name: shimon

hi i have a 2.5 year old son and we live in the US where we do not have any social circle to speak of. my husband goes off to work and frequently also goes on tours for a couple of weeks on end. me and my son are mostly left to ourselves at home and i try to teach him different things the best i can. the problem is that my son is so dependant on me that he doesnt even allow my husband to do simple things for him like putting him into his car seat or making him wear shoes....he will all the time want me (mama) to do it for him. this is a very strange situation and sometimes my husband feels a little upset bcz of this. also it gets tedious at times that my son is all the time clinging to me for everything...is there anyone going thru the same problem? how do i handle this and make my child little more friendly with my husband. he is very busy all the time and seldom tries to play with my son.

i understand what u are goung thr'. i would suggest that u talk more to ur child and leave him loose .show him how to do things like wearing shoes etc and when he is doing that be around ansd praise him when he gets it right, go on the same way with other things .and do activities where his physical energy is utilised . alll the best

Hi Shimon
Your problem is not really such an issue. If you analyze the whole matter the simple solution lies in your needing to STIMULATE YOUR CHILD and help your son expend his energy in a creative manner. The best way is to get your child to interact with other children, considering you have an issue with a social circle the best thing ot do is join a 'parent child interaction programe' such as the Gymboree in the US. My kids in Gymbaroo in Bangalore a similiar programe and it works just great.
cheers

The problem is with your husband.he has to try to be friendly with the child.whenever he gets time let him play, read books or take him to grocery shopping or library.atleast weekly once please find time for atleast couple of hours to take your cild out to some play area and play with him.

RE:What Toddlers Should Be Learning?
Toddlers are at a crucial stage of learning, where foundational skills for life are being developed. At Skillmatics, we believe toddlers should be learning cognitive abilities like problem-solving, memory building, and recognition of shapes, colors, and patterns. Language development, motor skills, and social-emotional growth are equally important during these years.
