I agree with Ruchika. Yesterday whole night I was thinking about you and my colleague who got laid off yesterday. He just had a baby and had met with an accident last week.

Hi Vidhya. Sorry to hear about ur colleague. I hope he finds a job real soon. I too was very anxious regarding my job scene, even though we can take the employers to the tribunal if they lay one off for getting pregnant or taking maternity leave, I am not sure my employers will take me back, I can just hope they do. But like you even I have told myself that whatever happens will be for good so no point stressing ourselves over it now.
Arshiya, pls tell us ur results. Good luck.

very unfair indeed

that is really sad Vindhya, especially with the new car payments.. I hope he finds another job soon and gets back to normal....
I can totally understand your situation... with the majority being Chinese... with the job market being so down, these things are inevitable... but it is absolutly unfair of them to lay off mothers returning from maternity leave.. such behavior is so intolerable and should be made liable for law suits or something....

Dont worry about it now...like you said, whatever happens happens... and we'll deal with it when we have to....

My time at home so far has been uneventful, as I expected it to be... I have a bit of work left to do (couldn't finish it yesterday), so will connect to my comp at work and finish it up...

Baby should cheer him up

Avi,

I cannot imagine his situation. After the accident, he had bought a new car which was about 4 days old. The situation at office is very tense for us H1-B people, I am expecting they would lay me off as soon as I return as it had happenned to one of my colleague when she returned from her maternity leave. 90% of them are Chinese in our group(I am not a racist but their behaviour is making me say this).

Well, if it happens it happens, may be for good.
