Due Date Club December 2005:Archie and all... appointment update

Hi Archie N all,
Had my appoinment 2days back.I am in my 32nd week of pregnancy. Gync said that baby is doing fine and also there is enough fluid around the baby. She also said the Placenta has moved upwards so nothing to worry about the bleeding. And within this 15days I have gained 1.2kg. And my BP was 140/80 mmhg, is this on higher side. Because till now I never had a problem with high BP. But usually it would be on the lower side only. At home we have got electornic BP meter. Whenever I mesure with that I get the reading like.. 108/65 mmhg, 113/67 mmhg...
My legs are swelling very much. My feets hurts whenever I walk. Gync has asked me to have the urine test done once again. So tommorrow I will be going for the test. She has also mentioned due to leg swelling there are chances that the baby will not get proper blood supply. Hence she has asked to go for Doppler Ultra Sonography. Can you please throw a light on what exactly the Doppler USG is all about. First she will check with the urine report and then will go for USG.
She was also telling that there are chances the I may go into delivery before due date because of the leg swelling and high BP. On other hand she also said that due to the delayed conception my due date may move further. Will be meeting her again tommorrow evening or Saturday morning with the urine report. Will update what the report says.

I really don't know what I would have done if you were not there around to give the advice. Thanks a lot for being around. Your reply really give us a moral support and to move ahead in pregnancy without any fear.

Ammy,
no salt and no sugar for you hereafter. Walk as much as you could, will help reduce swellings.

weight gain seems due to fluid retention and not real weight gain.

good news on placenta.:)

she is asking about \";color doppler\";. This is to confirm blood flow to fetus, it's good with your legs swelling, let her do.

yes your bp at home is normal but from clinic it's towards high, not so much but on borderline. curbing salt and sugars in diet will help to maintain this as well.

Hi Ammy,

My case is same as urs. I am frm november board. I am also having swelling with high blood pressure 140/90. In this case we have to do totally bed rest bcoz if blood pressure stays high, if urine reports are not good they deliever the baby early that is the only treatment for this scenario - that's what my doc told me but I have completed 37 weeks. Your doc will keep check on you and baby by fetal monitoring in which they check baby's heart-beat, movement and fluid level which is also called NST test. And this is nothing we have done wrong - this is just pregnancy-induced hypertension. So please if u r working - stop working and rest until ur delievery and sleep on ur left side that improves blood pressure a lot. Infact 2 days ago my BP was 150/90 and doc had asked me to rush the hospital and they did so many blood test, 24 hr urine test and NST also. All other reports were normal so they had let me come home. As you r in 33rd week be careful until u finish 36 weeks. After reading ur post i felt - u r going through same condition I am going through so thought of sharing with u.

This condition is also called pre-clampsia - but until they find protein in urine we are on safe side. But if you feel any headache, blurry vision then call doc rightaway. If this condition gets complicated - not good for baby - bcoz placenta stops functioning and baby doesn't get nourishment - so that's how is not good for our baby and for us also it is not good. If u read on this pre-clampsia on net u will find many articles.

But the key for us rtnow is bed-rest. So hang in there for few more weeks and ur bundle of joy will be with u!

Take care, don't be tensed, i have tried to tell u the facts of the condition we are going through. I am in US - so if u r in india - doc practice may be little different so don't get worried on that part.

Alright ammy once again take full bed-rest on left side and don't worry!

Hi Vimmi,
Thanks a lot for your input. I am doing fine. Except for the leg swelling I don't have any other problem, only in my last appointment the BP reading were high. Today morning when I had been to the clinic to give the urine and blood sample they tested my BP which came out normal. I will be getting the report today evening so will be meeting Gync.
To tell you I get more rest both physical and mental rest at office more than home. The travel distance between home and office is not much its only 30 to 45 mins. As my MIL is here to help me out... I do get the help but I cannot depend whole on her. Will see what my Gync has to say. And as Archie has said to cut the sugar and salt I am going to follow her advice.

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
