Aggressive Kids:Kids of Working Mother

Hi!

I am a mother of 6 year old. I am a working woman. Sometimes I feel guilty that I am unable to give my child the time and presence due to my work for the whole day that I used to get when I was a kid. I am able to spend only 3 to 4 hours a day with my child. my child loves me a lot and he misses me. He is at home (we are a joint family). But is it justifiable for a mother to work.

Hi! Subha

I think I understand your situation. I have a bright 9 yr old son. He goes to DPS and is one of the toppers. I am an MBA and have been in Advertising profession for last 13 yrs. Hence no control on time, tours. Even then till a few months back I had been taking care of the studies of my son, his projects, events, exhibitions ... everything. Planning, planning and planning at break neck speed.

I was managing with precision and mindless physical stress. As a result many a time I was 'hyper' and so was my child, as studies was never a subject to be compromised. The arguments and heated interactions became even more tiring.

One day, I had to take a call balancing between my high profile job and 'the other life' and quit, opting for project based assignments and other freelance work.

Today, we are doing the same work but we are relaxed and barely lose temper. Also, as I am back by 6pm, I pick him up from creche on time and we have enough time to work on our lessons.

Hence it is a passing phase. You be sure every mother goes through the same. You can always quit, it is your choice. And u alone will know when to do it, if at all.

So best of luck.

Arundhati

i understood ur concern, because even i am undergoing same.

atleast urs is a joint family and he can stay with ur inlaws/others.
but i have to leave my two kids with maid because we stay abroad.
my kids are 3yrs and 15months old.
sometimes even i feel guilty for doing so. by later i will convince my self that we are working for the bright future of our kids only , until they are growing well and studying well it is safe for us to work.

even our kids will learn to stay independly and one day comes when they appreciate our hard work. and proud of us.

so dont worry about it

Hi,
I have 2 kids 5 and 1 year. The elder one was quite good till he was 4. But off late he has become very hyperactive and adamant. i stay with my mom so that they are under her supervision. My husband stays in different house, we meet only in weekends. Is kids become hyperactive and adamant common?? he is good at school but doesnt do his homeworks and handwriting is quite bad. if you all have some suggestions do let me know.

Thanks
Hema
