Raising Children:Education in India

Name: Confused mother My son is 4yrs old and we live in germany now.The education system in germany is not as good as India and they teach only german and English starts at a very later stage.We are confused whether to put him in school in India or in germany.My parents are in chennai and they are ready to take care of my son...then shall i send him to india for studies? Is what i am doing is correct or not?I am very much confused..

I wouldn' t recommend that you sent your child to India for studies. One parent can communicate with your son in your native language (if necessary), and the other can communicate with him in English. That way, he will learn all three languages. He will naturally think in his mother tongue / English, whichever is frequently spoken at home.

You said that the German education system is not as good as India. On what basis do you feel this ? Is it only because of the language of instruction ? Because if it is, then I don' t think you should brand an entire education system based on the fact that they give importance to the national language. If there are other concerns regarding the education system, then specify that.

Thanks for ur reply..The only problem with the system is english..but if i put him in a school here and if we go back to india in another 1 or 2 yrs won´ t it be a big problem for my kid..since here they don´ t insist the children to study..

Now he is going to Kindergarten and the whole day he is just playing and they are not teaching him anything..

Hi ! I am a post graduate in child care and education. On your matter I would like to advise you not to send your kids to India Because the love, care and proection feeling the kids get from their parents, they do not get from anyone else. so keep them with you and you can start teaching them English or other subjects from Indian books at home only.
