That was a really amazing list..I had missed soo many things..Thanks a lot..But hey I have some extra things in my list which I wanted to share.I hope i havent repeated any item.Have a look & let me know if these are needed..I am first time mommy so dont have soo much experience
& BTW lets all share a shopping list of stuff needed after birth also

For mom additions
1.disposable underpants I dunno where you can get these
2.face wash
3.towel in case you need to shower
4.shampoo
5.sterilized cotton
6.drinks/snacks
7.pillow & sheets , if you prefer your own pillow
8.PJ's - make sure that you don't mind staining them
9.socks
10.boppy pillow for nursing
11.lotion/oil for massage
12.Fleece jacket since it will be cold when you return home
13.Electric heated massager or tennis ball (very helpful for lower back pain or leg cramps)
14.Hard candy to suck on during labor

For dad ( hey shazia you have already started forgetting the dad ..just kidding :-)
1.Slippers
2.tooth paste, toothbrush,
3.night dress
4.hand towel
5.camera and film, camcoder
6.mobiles + charger
7.Eatables/snacks/soft drinks
8.phone nos list
9.At least $20 in cash and change for snacks, phone calls, and so forth
10.Change of clothes.
11.some magazine/books.
12.Walkman with cd’s
13.Birthplan
14.Insurance card
15. Lamaze/childbirth class notes on how to breathe/positions etc during labor

Iam from Kuwait. And no the sex of the baby is not yet known. i'll be asking the doc this time when i go for my check up. quite inquisitive these days to know.

shazia replied. I dont know abt india and US but here in middle east during my first delivery i carried those things i mentioned in the list. And maximum no. of days we stay in the hospital if its a normal delivery is just 1 day. only if it is a c setcion they stay for 4 to 5 days.

Like u gave the list for dad. here men are not allowed inside the labor room and no one stays with us when we are shifted to the ward.so i dint metion abt the dads.

and abt pillows and sheets. The hospitals here they provide preety clean ones . so i dont want to carry them.

so i dint know abt the dads list.

sheets and Meghana replied. If you are in US you will obviously need a carseat.& DOnt forget to get a free checkup if you know how to fix the carseat correctly :-)
