My mom got a 10 year multiple entry visa successfully at chennai consulate. Its a happy news and BIG relief for me. I always needed her, but now very badly bcoz i'm carrying twins. My prayers have been answered. Planning to bring my mom this october.
I will be happy to field any questions regarding the interview process as far as i know. Wishing good luck for everyone else!!

I also felt the same relief when my PIL got the visa. We really need somebody with us at this point of time. We have almost bought the tickets also for parents. they will be here sep end.

i have been hearing rumors that if mom's alone apply they may not be as lucky as both parents applying.Cld u tell us what q's they asked her?my mom has her interview on sep4th!

please scroll down to see what kind of questions were asked during the interview(its part of my reply to sheetal). getting a visa is purely luck and its always case by case basis. So do not believe in rumours.

Prepare your mom for the interview that way she can answer the questions better. Wish you good luck!!

Thanks for your wishes bargavi. I wish good luck for your parent's interview. I feel they should also clear the interview with no hurdles and get the visa in hand.
Infact my mom had the interview on 7th aug, and she received the passport on the same evening thru courier. So for local people it just takes a day to get the passports. Will talk to you soon.

Hey Padoson, glad to hear that your mom will be here soon.
I had a few questions regarding the process:
1. Did you send sponsorship papers/invitation letter for your mom?
2. What kind of questions did they ask her?
Any information from you would be very helpful.
My mom and dad have their interview coming up pretty soon and I would like them to be well prepared.

Again, congrats on your mom getting her visa. Enjoy your pregnancy. Twins will be a handful when they are out.

Thanks for your wishes. will be glad to help you.

1. Did you send sponsorship papers/invitation letter for your mom?

Yes. My hubby was the sponserer. Here is the information we sent.

a) Notarized Affidavit of Support, Form I-134.
b) Notarized Letter of employment.
c) Copies of salary statements (last 6months).
d) Bank Account verification letter.
e) Copy of recent Bank statements.
f) Copies of Tax Returns statement (last 3 years)
g) Copy of husband & wife’s Green Card & Passport OR H1 and H4 papers.
h) Husband & wife’s Birth Certificate.
i) Marriage Certificate

Note:
Photocopy all pages including blank pages in the passports. Also most importantly, parents should take the required documents. proof of assets (home), bank statements, family photos(to prove parents have ties in india)

2. What kind of questions did they ask her?

Questions asked:
a) Why do you want to go to US?
-- For tourism and to visit my daughter & son-in-law.

b) Who is there in US?
-- Again the same as answer as (a).

c) How many issues do you have?
-- My mom said me and my brother.

d) Where is my brother and wht is he doing?
-- She replied he is studying in India.

e) Why is your husband not visiting with you?
-- He is yet working and cannot take leave for 6 months or so

He verified all the documents. Provide all the documents at the counter. Let them return whatever they don't need. Don't think that "officer will ask and then letz give it". The officer will never ask.
