Due Date Club December 2005:some tipson packing the bag ..continuation

Hi girls I couldnt post this big message as one post so i had to break into two parts .
so heres the second part.
For Mother:-
Nursing bras 2 to 3
Some feeding nighties
(in India u get beautiful feeding nighties. I picked up few for me this time when I came there)
Comb/ hairbrush
(brush is better cos comb hurts as body is so sore and tired after delivery I prefer hairbrush)
5 to 6 loose panties
Sanitary napkins
Small hand towels
Wet Wipes / Handkerchiefs / or soft face towels.
Easy slip-ons or nice cute looking Hawaii chappals (so that u don’t get worried using then in the hosp bathrooms).
Any Moisturizer or Vaseline
Lip cream cos ur lips usually chap.
An ointment or vaseline for nipple soarness cos many times when u feed the first time u tend to hurt the nipples.
a soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, and keep extra hairbands/rubber bands cos I remember for my first delivery I had a tough time without a hair band during the labor and finally the nurse had to tie my hair with a cloth.
Talcum Powder (very imp)
Deodorant or eau de cologne (Very Imp, We need to smell good. But buy very mild ones)
Make up is not required. But if anyone wants can carry can carry. I feel that a new mom looks beautiful anyways. So I won’t be carrying any.
Keep lotsa plastic / trash bags. Cos when u return from the hosp. u’ll definitely need a lot of then.
For time being this is all I remember. If I had missed out on anything do let me know.
I will also add any if I remember later on.
So enjoy packing ur bags.

Hi all,

I missed out on one important item.

Dont forget to keep the belt to hold the stomach after delivery. These belts are available everywhere. if not the belt then best thing to use is an old used cotton saree or a dupatta. I used a saree for few days then a belt.If the delivery is a c- section then i dont think it can be used.

Hi Shazia,

This is indeed a fantastic list. Kudos to you. I guess we have a lot to learn from 2nd time mom's. I was just thinking about the things Im going to need after delivery. Your list is really very complete and detailed. Just one question, when you mentioned sanitary napkins - do you mean the normal ones or do you get specific ones for post maternity? As the bleeding might tend to be heavy I was just wondering if the ordinary napkins will suffice. Any other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,
Raji

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
