My daughter is 7 years old and her school has organized a camp for the class. She also wants to go but I am so worried about her being alone there. I feel that she is too young for camps and she would not be able to manage much of the chores on her own. I am also concerned about her safety. I feel school has not taken the right decision for organizing a camp for such young kids.

dhanshree replied. hello manika,
if school organised picnic then school teachers and mentors at school take care of all kids, and in right way childrens also enjoyed the camp fun.
nilesh replied. hello manika,
This type school camp makes children responsible in taking care of themselves, and remove fear from kids mind, also kids make new friends in camp, and learn how to communicate with friends.
manisha replied. hello manika,
As a mother your care is but obivous, but your daughter will learn how to handle situation and manage own things when she will at home alone. so just dont worry about her.
manisha replied. hello manika,
this type picnic makes children responsible, and teach taking care of themselves, as a mother of kid its normal thing that you are caring towards her.
nidhi replied. hello manika,

nimrit replied. hi manika,
dont worry about your daughter security, because if school organised picnic, they take care of things of kids, like safety, food of kids, and also activities of kids, so give permission to her.
gayatri replied. hi manika,
every school organise some picnics for small kids, thats why develope confidence in kids, and also they can do own things, by own, and its habit make them independent,so its a good thing.
Ritta replied. Don't be worried about her safety. As a parent it is natural to be worried but you shouldn't because as it is a school camp so teachers will be there with the students all the time and they will take proper care of everyone.
chin replied. camping makes children responsible in taking care of themselvves. it will make her personality better and school must have thought about children's safety. as a mother ur worry is fair but think about ur daughter's future will u like when she will have a fear of everything? then don't worry. when kids are alone they know how to handle them. we worry uselessly.
payal raval replied. Hi Manika,
I faced the similar situation when my kid’s school (Orchids International, Mumbai) organized an event called ‘Days When Stars Came Closer’. Kids were asked to spend a night in their school. I was concerned about her safety, but my husband consoled me and at last, we send her to the school for that night. Her teachers and mentors at school took good care of her and she thoroughly enjoyed the camp. So, just check once or twice with her school teachers about the safety and allow her for the camp. This is the right age to enjoy such events or camps.

RE:Reading Newspapers
How old is your kid as it depends on the age of the child and one cannot force a five year old to read the newspaper so if your child is above ten years then yes you should ask him or her to read the newspaper daily.... - Aditi [View Message]
