Intelligent Child:Memory Troubles

Name: Roubik

Hi, my kid bro is facing problems. I have tried teaching him so much. Its difficult to keep teaching the same thing. I cant understand what I should do. My parents cant make him study either without beating him up. Thats why I take his studies instead of my parents. But I feel sorry for him. He studies so much but barely manages to score above 48 percent. What to do?

Many children seem to face this problem when they are young. It is not so much an inability to study as much as the unwillingness to participatre in an activity that may seem quite pointless to them.

Many such children usually grow up to be capable and independant minded. In the case of your brother, i think you should simply give him some time.

It is a sad fact of our education system that stifles children' s creativity and curiousity instead of helping these qualities develop, and your brother, like millions of other children is just victim of it.

This may be serious. Have a check up with your doctor to see if your brother has attention deficiency syndrome. Yes there needs to be a balanced approach of play and studies to be effective. Frequent breaks are probably best.

hi,
i dont know what is the age of your brother. i suppose he is below 18. all the time studies is not good for children. allow him to go to play outside with his friends in evening. this is very important this make mind fresh and he can learn better. if no friends around, cycling is best. dont allow him to sit in front of TV at evening. if he gets bore while studying tell him to play game on computer. but take care not to adict. make proper time table for study. ask him to sit one particular place every day. this makes his body a habit to study when he sits on that place. before starting reading ask him to do mediatation. even if he forget answer in between ask him to do meditaion and most imporatant build up his confidence. tell him getting good marks in paper is very much possible for him. make up his mind to collect good marks in exam and for that study is necessary. Last but not least.. if he is studying no one else should chat in front of him or no one should watch TV in same room. all this will help him very much.

RE:Reading Newspapers
How old is your kid as it depends on the age of the child and one cannot force a five year old to read the newspaper so if your child is above ten years then yes you should ask him or her to read the newspaper daily.... - Aditi [View Message]
