AU PAIR
The chance of a life time.
The Au Pair program is an educational and cultural exchange program with a strong child care component. They are treated as a member of the family. The host family helps Au Pair to get to know the country’s language and culture, offers board and lodging and integrates the Au Pair into daily life. An Au Pair is not a cleaner, housekeeper, household manager or a child minder. An Au Pair is regarded as a member of the family as an older daughter and not a contract worker; they are treated as a member of the family and not a hired helper.
Typical Duties
An Au Pair’s main responsibilities will be to care foe the children in the host family for no ore than 45 hrs a week. Depending on children’s age, duties will vary for eg.
Waking up children, dressing them, preparing meals such as breakfast
Taking care of the baby during the day and babysitting
Playing games and reading bedtime stories
Helping them with their homework
Driving them to and from school, as well as to any appointments
Of course not all the time will involve childcare duties. Every week all au pairs have time off to meet up with other au pair, study, and travel, enjoy the culture, and participate in range of fun activities!
For many participants, the program itself is a truly life changing experience. All host families are carefully selected to match both parties’ requirements. And an added value is that you get to visit a new country and learn new culture which is in itself an opportunity of a lifetime!
