Due Date Club December 2005:Weight gain!!
2005-10-03
Name: Zeena

Hi All,

I am on my 31st week ( due on 15th December 2005)and I am bit worried about my & my babies weight!!!. I was weighting 55kg at the beginning of my pregnancy, but I lost 5 kg during the first 3 months. Then I started gaining little and now on my 31st week weighting 56 kg. If I count from where I lost then I gained 6 kg, but if I look at my actual weight at the beginning (55) then I gained only 1 kg. So can someone pls explain...does it look normal or do I need to consult???? Kindly suggest

Hi Zeena,
Don't worry if you have not gained weight... If your little one is doing great then there is nothing to worry. If at all you had put the weight then you would have started worring as how to reduce it after delivery.

So best of luck and enjoy the pregnancy.

No need to worry until the doc tells u that the baby is underweight.

Through out my pregnancy till today i have put on only 3 kgs. In the begining of 3rd month i lost 3 kgs .I was very much worried and asked the doc if my baby was ok. he said if ur baby is not moving and not active then u need to worry. my baby movements are fine so i dont have to worry. so if ur baby's movements are active i dont think u need to worry yar. As far as u feel the baby moving fine then its ok. If u are very much worried better check with ur doc abt this. Otherwise it seems fine.

enjoy ur pregnancy.
And stop worrying

Hi Zeena,

I think your doing fine. You first lost and then gained weight so I dont think you should worry too much. Also, if there was any reason or cause for worry, your doctors would have told you in your monthly visits. If they are fine with your weight gain then I dont see any reason why you should be bothered. Just relax. You could casually ask the doc if your weight increase is fine, if they dont dwell too much on it, then you dont need to also.

Best,
Raji

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
