Hi archie and other new moms... i have been breast feeding since Ritika was born. First day it was tough, but later on she got a hang of it.

Now after coming home, she latches well... my nipple hurts. Is there any remedy for the same?? Is this pain normal or is she not latching well??

Thanks. Shanthi replied. Its a good idea to take an appointment with ur lactation consultant. Not properly latching mite be one of the reasons for sore nipples. Shanthi replied. Even i had the same problem for the first couple of days. Lansinoh Lanolin - Sore Nipple Cream .. is a good one. Its a bit sticky feels like gum .. but works great! The good thing abt this cream is .. u dont have to wipe it off before u breast feed. its perfectly safe for ur baby too.

Also try dipping ur nipples once in a while in a bowl of luke warm water and salt. But make sure u wipe it off before nursing.. u dont want ur kid to have salty milk :-)

Even a bag of frozen peas on sore nipples can give u temporary relief.

KBhavana replied. Apply Vitamin 'E' oil and massage after every feed. This helps a lot and it doesnt hurt. Also everyday while taking bath, spend some time pouring hot/warm water on your breasts and massage for some time.
