Name: Ruchi

Hello
I am seven weeks pregnant and I am new in UK. Can anyone please tell me if BLOOD TEST is necessary for pregnancy confirmation. Here doctors hv taken my urine test and by tht only they confirmed me tht i m pregnant. One more thing i want to ask tht till now no gynae has done my chk up. Is this all safe or i shud hv been chked by some doctor.
I am in complete dilemma, so till now i hv not told this good news to my parents also. Your advice will help me a lot.

BBye
Ruchi..

Hello ruchi,
Firts of all Congrats:-).Well I' m meghna 4m september board.Lemme tell u this, evn I got my pregnancy confirmed only by URINE TEST..I dont think so theresz any necessity of performing BLOOD TEST when u already know by the urine test that ur pregnant...Normally blood test is done to knwo the HCG level in our blood..These tests can be done lil later also.(ie for me all these tests ie thyroid, glucose in teh urine,AIDS,anemia, blah blah test was done very early ie in the 6th week)but one of my aunt(whosz a leading gynaec)told that thyroid n sum of those tests r not necessary so early...

So may be in ur case doc is gona do all those routine tests once u complete ur 10 weeks or first trimester..orur next appointment.

I didnt get what u mentioned,ie \" now no gynae has done my chk up\" ...u mean to say,no gynaec checked u till now,ie u didnt have any prenatal check up?if thisz ur qsn, then lemme tell u this,I 2 didnt have any prenatal checkups..Just confirmed my pregnancy,n then only went went to gynaec. so no prenatal check ups for me...But once u confirm ur pregnancy ,its better to visit the gynaec..coz she will then examine u,if need be take an ultrasound(to know baby' s heartbeat n to ascertain how many weeks pregnant ur),n then she will also prescribe sum tablets to take during the pregnancy...

So now as u' ve confirmed ur pregnancy by urine test, now go ahead n consult a gud gynaec..N remember to eat healthy, thisz very vital in ur firts trimester...

all the best n take care.
lotsa luv.

hi
My son also had the same problem his legs used to shiver my doc said it is due to calcium defieciency b.coz I was calcium deficient. She gave him a tonic for 2 mnths it cured after that. The reason why ur baby' s leg is shivering may be this. Plz contact ur doc and take necessary steps as soon as possible.... - Sahila Gupta [View Message]
Help for your sis in NJ
Ravs, your ideas are out of date, since your sis is in NJ she should join a good prenatal class [Lamaze, Bradley etc] and get updated information, also her physician will guide her on diet and her self care please don' t give her advise based on the info in this mail of yours. Not to worry
If you want a normal delivery, ask your doc first to try vaginal delivery if not then go for forceps delivery where baby can taken out with the help of tongs...
