I am Revati Silent reader of this board , I am asking some light on one of the problem i found with my son who is just turned 2, in the moring i feel that he has bad breath coming fom his mouth soon after waking up, i brush his teeth & toung, today i noticed that the bad breath was still present after brushing, however i have noticed his breath during day time, i am going to do that now on, is it common for babies to have mild bad breath in the morning? please help me, Hetal replied. at 2 years of age,,many reasons for bad breath :

1.children who have mild cold, flu infectionss, allergies,coughs or ne mucus related infections,,or ne probs related to nasal passages or blocking,,have sudden bad smell from mouth.so dr visit is needed.mstly it happens because kids dont clean thr nose or clear that nasal passages that often,,which results in bacterial growth due to mucus gatherng..so keep his nasals clean,,after baths, before sleep, after sleeps,,or whneverr the stuffy nose occurs,,after a good outing in muddy area...and it might help,,if still it does not,,he needs to be seen by your dr.

2.if its thru out the day,,your child needs to be seen by dr.so try brushing after meals, after juice treats, before sleep and after sleep...see if it stops in a day or so.

3. check his gums,teeth bottoms,,if you find ne yellowish layer,blackish colour in between gums,,your child needs to visit a dentist.could be a sign of tooth or gum decay or loose gums.ne sign of redshness needs immediate attention of your dr.

4. ne space in teeth that might have caused the food to stock in there,,might be the reason.kids with gaps between teeth are recmnded to brush after every meals and flush/gargle thr mouth after every sweet or juice treat..avoid sticky foods.

5.some kids from 18months onwards, when severly constipated,,thr mouth smells bad, allthe time,even after repeated brushing.so offer more fibrs and see if that makes his bowels regular and are of proper consistency..increase his fluid intakes.

6.try brushing his teeth twice and see if that helps ! most of the time the bacterial growth occurs during the sleeping hours, and if the mouth is not cleaned properly,,growth is very high and repeated brushing esp after good night sleep is highly recmnded..and needs dr attentn esp because the growth of bacteria should not be very high..

7.acute stomach indigestion problems,,indigestion due to intake of ne strong foods like garlic, onions,potatoes,dry food without gravy,curds or too much of fried or oily foods,,,in dinner meal might have caused this.

8. bad breath could be the reason that tongue needs to be cleaned too ! so after brushing, clean his tongue and ask him to flush out nicely...see if that works,,if not,,ask your dr..

all these should work for next 2 days,,if it does not,,please let your dr see your child teeth or take him to dentist. before going to dentist, let your kids ped see him first and ask him if dentist visit is needed !...
