Hi All! I am expecting my first baby at the end of this month. Presently, I am in delhi...just wanted to know how to dress/wrap new borns in winters? Plus wht are the other things that I need to keep in mind. Pls advise. ch replied. i forgot to write abt this

u can look for info on wrapping/swaddling baby in pregnancy or baby sites. they even hv pics and videos. ch replied. congratulations!

plan to use diapers or pyjamas?
i m assuming u wd use diapers as required but otherwise pyjamas (or pyjamees, as fondly called in delhi, for baby wears :)

buy lots of them, some thick ones.. u know there is no sunlight in dec jan.

Those soft white sleeveless woollen sweaters, mostly wore as inners.. are v popular in delhi. Elders insist on using it. Yes, they indeed are useful.

or u can use baby thermals.

even though baby's washed clothes dry up, they are cold. dont make the baby wear them directly, warm them up.
U can use the room heater. I used to run them thru the mocrowave when they were little damp (and i remember burning one v nice sweater !)

u must be planning to use room heater for baby, but it ll be good idea to buy a 'kangri/sigdi' and some coal. U know the Power problem in delhi and sigdi can be used to dry up/warm up clothes which become v cold, or to give daily 'sek' to baby by putting theTava on it, can be used to heat water as well thus the kitchen stove will remain free(and then also use sigdi for barbeque mooongfali/brinjal/etc!).

Do NOT use sigdi inside house/room. Coal when burns gives out carbon monoxide which is v v harmful. Use it outside house.

when u put on room heater, remember to put a wide mouth bowl full of water in same room since room heater dries up the moisture and it can lead to throat probs for u and baby.
