Due Date Club December 2005:Archie and all... appointment update

Hi Archie and all,
Yesterday I had the appointment with my gync. I am in 30th Week now and as per my LMP completed 7 month and started with 8th month. She did the scan and said that everything is great and baby is very active. Also there is enough fluid around the baby. I am tested positive for Pedal Oedema... I think it is a medical term for leg swelling because other than this I don't have any other problem even my BP is normal.
Only one big problem is that I have gained lot of weight, 14KG till now... I had mentioned the same thing in my last update. But this time even my Gync was making fun of me by telling me that if you don't control it now then you have to join some healthclub later on to reduce the weight. She told me to stop having cheese, butter, ghee.. but I hardly have them. Except for Ghee that also only one or two table spoon along with rice in evening. Also I have only one glass of milk daily morning with the Protinules powder. I soak one Dry date(Kharik known in Marati) and two Badam in milk overnight and have it in morning. After 10 to 15 min I drink milk with powder. I am avoiding all junk foods. Earlier I used to eat Good Day biscuits an hr before Lunch. Now I am carrying fruits.. And two hrs after lunch I drink a glass full of Buttermilk and in evening after 6:30PM one Nariyal pani. Between 7Pm till dinner I eat fruits or salad(only cucumber) or munch on some snacks. I am not understanding what I should do to control my weight. Please do give me some idea. Till now I have gained 14KG and still two months to go....... All the time my Gync was talking about my weight only.. she did not mention anything about Placenta. I think there is no problem with Placenta now.
I am going to stop eatting the sweets like Malai Burfi, Pede etc.... also junk foods like Bhelpuri, Panipuri, chips etc..... I have also reduced the intake of salt. Now I don't use the normal salt but the other one which we call as Sydarlavan also known as Shendenamak. Thats all I can think of now... Guys do help him to keep control on my diet.

Take care everyone and enjoy the last two months of pregnancy.

Ammy,
there is a lot you can do to control you weight.
After reading your message I want you to reduce your ghee intake from 2 tablespoon to 1.2 tea spoon per day.

No powder in milk, just regular milk,
no sweets at all, they are from condensed milk products and lot of Khoya in it.

Avoid bhelpuri and panipuri. Eat only home made meal.

I would suggest to use regular salt but 1/10th the amount you are using regularly.

your placenta won't be discussed once known it's moved upward, that was confirmed from last ultrasound.

Walk everyday at least 30-40 minutes after meal. YOu should not have legs swelling that's indication of fluid retention and thus high weight.

Hi Archie,

Thanks a lot for your feedback. From now on wards I am going to stick to my diet and try to keep the weight undercontrol. Regarding the powder in the Milk it is been prescribed by my Gync and it contains lot of protin and carbohydrate product. As it is bit difficult to drink a plain milk is it ok if I switch to Horlics? Also would like to know how much one can gain the weight due to the fluid retation?

Thanks again for your advise.

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
