Due Date Club October 2001:My turn to vent on lotsa things...

Girls, I am having sleep problems and groin pains for the past few days.I am not able to get steady sleep in a while, apart from pee intervals and baby kicking I guess I am barely getting few hours of sleep. Tried walking before going to sleep, warm milk, bath, soothing music etc etc, any ideas? Also my feet are swelling and I am hardly able to see my toes...

As a result, I am tired the whole time, I know we are all right there close to Oct/Nov time frame but it seems so near yet far away...

Some times I think of my parents and wonder how they managed to bring up three of us so well, gosh parenting never ends!

I am basically a worry wart as my dh calls me, when trying to conceive I was worried what if I get my period next time, when doing home pregnancy test I was worried if the blue line would show up, later worried about doctor visits, U/S results, AFP results, movements, the coke I drank some day,GD results, god the list goes on...

After few weeks I am sure I will come back to post that I am worried about labor pains(as if I am not already!)then baby blues, diaper changes, first day to day care, school, worried when the child catches cold, birthday parties, college, boy friends/girl friends, marriage, their children.....Wow we go through it all, right? I swear parenting never ends...
I was telling dh about all this yesterday and he said I think too much and that I should live for the moment.

What kind of example would I be to my child if I worry this way for everything? 28 years old and still stupid in many ways thats me ladies !!

Thanks for reading!

It was good to read all your messages. All in all I realized that getting pregnant is easiest of all(!) it is the 9 months stretch and later which will make up for everything.
I have scheduled an appoinment for 18th but as they had a slot open today I was asked to come, anyways my OBGYN feels everything is normal, swelling, pains and aches etc etc. He said he is not worried about anything, well that is a relief. Just waiting to finish the home stretch, but as Sakhi said I am honestly worried about L&D too, but the pain as the doc said is purposeful as we get to see our baby after 9 long months.
Yup its really true sakhi how our grand parents generation managed, my grand mother has 8 kids !! My mom is the last of them!!
Don't worry about the baby's needs sakhi, they say motherly instints for nothing right? We will end up doing everything right, also you will have your parents initially to guide you right?
As far as meditation goes Mekha,I sit in front of God but my mind wanders, will try to concentrate, my mom says every time I call that to pray to God when ever I worry about stuff.
Jyotsna, we feel sitting this far that your girls back home are lucky to be closer to families but you are right life is hectic with its twists and turns and as you said you will get to be with your family once in an year, so I can imagine.
So how are your pregnancies coming along girls? Good luck and take care!
Keep in touch

Padmaja,

It seems we are all going thru same. I am too unable to sleep because of so many reasons. Now, I am worried more and more about my D-Day. Will I be able to stand? I really don't know. Sometimes I wonder how can the oldies gave birth to 9 and 10 children??? Even we are 3 children to my mom. I really started understanding her more since I became pregnant. I am also worried about the baby since for at least a year he/she won't be able to speak a single word and we have to do guess work as to what is happening to him/her. I am reading lot of books which tells about new born child till 5 years old but I am still not having any confidence.

Ohhh Boy!!!!

I am also having sleepless nights because of breathing problems. I started to put high pillow under my head and back so that it lifts me up little. Its helping me a little bit.

Girls, keep in touch and take care.

Sakhi

well--looks like we all are in the same boat really.
Mekha,i agree with you on meditation.I do it and Reiki as well and relaxes me a lot.Padmaja--I go thru the same hassles--insomnia/back pain/groin spasms
.I wake up a grouch at 5.45am to make ananya's tiffin and send her to school.I live in India but see my parents(who also live in India) and my ma-in law just once a year. This time round,i will be delivering alone(husband will be there ofcourse)what would i do without him??Being on ones own gives you a strength and coping ability u thot u never posessed.Currently am looking for fulltime help which leaves me sleepless again. One vicious circle this.I've gone thru every VBAC site by now and cant wait to have the lil one in my arms.Wish i cld fast forward.
How are u all doing otherwise--Padmaja,mekha,sakhi....and all
take care

Jyotsna, I felt pretty glad reading that I am not the only one out there worrying about anything and everything under the sun! I will try to see if pillow remedy works for swelling!
I should say ananya sounds delicious !! stories, singing and all that. Guess being this far from home land and family gets to me at times, to top it all I was working until few months back so, idle mind is really a devil's work shop. Once my mom comes over I might start feeling fine. By the way I was checking this link and thought it might interest you, check
www dot childbirth dot org/section/VBACindex dot html

Mekha, thanks for support, I will try not to drink too much water, the thing is it is extremely humid here and I end up drinking more water than I usually do all the time.As I was telling jyotsna we all seem to be in the same boat, worrying seems to be integral part of motherhood.Did you check amazon dot com for strollers? Have you been to babiesrus?

I suppose I will come back time and again for resurrance and as you say jyotsna, we will all use this chat board as sounding board ! I kind of got used to reading the messages and sharing info here every day. Thanks girls for being here!

Hello Padmaja,

When i read your message i felt like you are talking about me..lol. We womens worries a lot and ie.. ingrained in our hormones. We just have to relax (see who is talking..lol) and leave everything to god. Somebody told me meditation is good to control our mind and get relaxation.

Now about sleeplessness. Its common during pregnacy. Our mind is racing, belly getting bigger so its no wonder we can't settle in for a nice sleep. Anyways, we can experience this insomnia off as good preparation for the sleepless nights that likely ahead in the first months of baby's life, right?..lol Padmaja if you have problem of frequent trips to the bathroom than limit fluids after 4 pm and stand as little as possible during the day. As jyotsna says make sure you have firm pillows and a mattress. It is best with one leg crossed over the other and with a pillow between them my doctor says its best for both for us and fetus.
Music is also good to get sleep.

Be happy!

You really really sound cute and left me with a smile. You know something this is my 2nd pregnancy and ive never cribbed as much as im cribbing this time.Even my husb notices.
Re sleep problems, what can i say.....its bound to happen.Make sure you have enough space to roll around(note i say roll not move)and make sure you have enough pillows next to you to give you some easing off.Elevate your feet slightly on a pillow to reduce swelling.Try not to drink too much fluids 2-3 hrs before bedtime.
In fact i must tell you this--all mothers to be in some way or the other are worriers --motherhood is no joke, your body goes through a tremendous change,so does everything about you, your thoughts and most important of all your priorities shift entirely to yourself and the growing baby.
Padmaja--it will be bad in the 9th month sleep wise.Dont stop thinking about whats gonna happen(its natural) but try and divert your mind to something else--read a book/comic/walk/watch a film. For me the greatest stress and worry buster is ananya -my daughter who tells the baby stories of her school and sings songs. And yes you have this message board to vent it all out --am sure all of us are going to use this as a sounding board as the time approaches.
take care and smile------
