I am in my 14th week of pregnancy and was wondering if tea has caffine in it. I heard some people saying tea has nicotine and others say tea has caffine. I want to know if I can have tea, if yes how many cups per day ?
Before pregnancy I use to have 2 cups tea in a day. And now I restricted myself to one cup. But still I think, is this gonna harm my baby ?Sometime I have horrible headache and I find tea is the only solution. Pls help.
Thanks,
Vinaya

kiran replied. hello vinaya,
Tea and caffeine have less quantity of tannin and nicotine, so its not harmful in pregnancy, caffeine won't post threat to pregnancy what it will do if beyond limit is induce early labor.
omkar replied. hello vinaya,

you had posted this post long time back and now with whom you blessed with and new member enter in your family, so stay happy with family, and share your experience also.
Helper replied. It is not bad to have tea or coffee while pregnancy, but an inappropriate amount can be really dangerous for the baby. Caffeine content for a mother is not good for blood pressure may just shoot up which in turn could be dangerous to the baby's health. A cup a day is absolutely fine for the baby and mommy but yes overdosing the same would cause problems. I would suggest you to drink pregnancy safe herbal tea from themomsco. This tea is completely safe with 100% caffeine free.
Archie replied. Dear Vinaya,
Tea has Caffine less than half to that of coffee and it contains Tannic acid not Nicotin.
Drinking tea about 2 cups is not going to harm your baby at all but some prenatal packs contain required amounts of Caffine thus taking tea is additional. Caffine won't post threat to pregnancy what it will do if beyong limit is induce early labor and sometime low weight birth.
If you drinkg one cup per day, you can keep going with this tea dose and you will find your baby is touch wood.
Remember all Indian village girls drink tea each morning before starting their day and deliver heathy babies.
Good luck
Archie
