Is there any difference bewteen playgroup and nursery? What is The correct age for admission to nursery? My daughter will turn two in Jan'06 and by the time schools start ,i.e. by June, she will be 2years and 6 months, so where shld I put her- playgroup or nursery? Any suggestions sunitha replied. Of course there is difference between play school and nursery. In nursery they'll start teaching the kids in terms of writing(or atleast holding pencil), singing nursery rhymes etc. But in pre school there is no teaching. Children are left on their own to play and make friends with others. basically it's a means of socialising. As for the age group it will be different for different schools. in some schools even if the kid is 2.6 they'll admit her to nursery whereas in some others they'll admit the kid in play school. Normally kids in 2.6 years goes to Playgroup / Pre Nursery.. It is dependent on the city where you are in. In Chennai, 2.6 yr old kid goes to Pre KG and 3.6 goes to LKG.

In Bangalore, some schools, they take 2.6 for Nursery and some in Playgroup.

YOu have to chk this only with school.
