My baby is 9 +.
he does not sleep properly at night.
i put him to bed at around 10 and sleeps clamly for 2-3 hrs but after that he becomes very restless and keeps crying in sleep and when i put him to BF he clams downa nd then again the same starts after an hour of so.
Also he keeps on twisting and turning on the bed all over.
what should i do and what could be the reason?
Also, there is another issue, that is,he is deep in sleep with his eyes closed but still gets up and sits and his eyes are still closed and his body is still loose and he falls on the bed that way.
this goes on for at least half an hour before he sleeps calmly.
if the following helps to answer me:
1.I give him 7 oz of milk before he sleeps.
2. He sleeps with me and my husband on our bed.
3.we stay in Mumbai and the weather is OK. not warm neither cold and i put a thin cotton sheet on him.
please advise and help.

The twisting and turning sounds like gas. Try giving him gripe water / some medicine for gas. Carmicide 2.5 ml for a few days and see if he sleeps better. It could also be teething pains. You get this homeopathic medicine - Dentonic. Give him 3 pills three times a day.

Hi Rhea,

I think 9 and 1/2 baby doesn´ t need 3-4 feeding in night..he should sleep for 10 to 11 hrs in night and need only 1 feeding. some babies do sleep 7-8 hrs without feeding. some tips::

BM before bed to his satisfaction. burp him before putting him down... at this age he may not burp but at least keep him on your shoulder for 5-7 minutes... make sure he doesn´ t sleep while BF or burping.... don´ t excite her but atleast keep her out of deep sleep till you put her down...
pat him slowly after putting down. Don´ t pick eventhough he cries..keep something with her which is her favourite thing like blanket or small soft toy which he can hold.At mid night whenever he wakes up don´ t offer her breast every time if its more than 5hrs (7 hrs prefered) of last feeding then only feed...else try to pat her or give him a pacifier... follow same style every night... this will convey him a message to sleep on his own.
this may take another 3-5 days but mostly u will get result. we have to teach them how to sleep and go back to sleep on their own.

One more thing your baby must be facing teething pain which is normal at this age..so make sure to massage his gums with a wet wash cloth every might before sleeping...so that he doesn´ t gte disturbed coz of itching in gums.

Try it let me know if it helps.Take care.

Sleep Problem due to itchy skin
My baby girl is unable to sleep properly due to skin rashes. I have resumed oil massages to help calm her down and facilitate better sleep, using CITTA Baby Massage Oil. Additionally, I am applying the ointment recommended by her doctor for the rashes. Could you please provide me with more ideas that can promote better sleep for her?... - Sanchari Tarafdar [View Message]

RE:How to Develop a Sleep Routine for your Newborn
According to me this is good but then you cannot force your child to sleep as per your wish as kids as really bad in this and they have a tendency to sleep in day and get up in late night so according to me this is not the key to success, please post if i am wrong.... - Anita [View Message]
