Hi Bhavna!

Hope your iron level would have improved by now! My doc has recommended me to take tablets called 'Materna'; these have all the required vitamins and minerals. Besides that, for increasing the iron level, you can try the following:
Soak black currants and prunes overnight (separately) and have them in the morning (drink the water also). Eat vegetable made of fenugreek and spinach also. You can mix fresh (washed and cut) fenugreek and spinach in the wheat flour and can make chappattis of that. This way, it is easier to consume them and that too, in a raw and fresh manner. While eating vegetables (cooked ones), sprinkle lemon juice on them (this way iron absorption will be faster). Eat drt fruits like walnuts and figs (in moderate quantities). Just follow all the above and I am sure, your iron level will be back to normal.
Take Care,
Sonal

it is best to ask doctor for supplement suggestion and how much mg it should contain. as for foods with iron - dried nuts, fruits, yolk (well cooked), dark green leafy vegetables, red meat (well cooked).

also, consume orange juice or vitamin C along with any iron rich food as it aid absorption of iron.

best wishes for a healthy baby.

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
