Health Issues:Help! Extreme hair loss post delivery

Name: ashima

I m sufferring from extreme hair loss post delivery (4months now). After delivery, i dint used to get enough time to take care of my hair.
Now too, i dont take too much care of hair, just wash it once a week with shampoo.

The hair loss is so much that i feel i ll go bald soon.

Is it because of delivery tht m losing hair or because of negligence caused post delivery?
Any homemade remedies?

Please suggest.

Thanks!
Great suggestions .. should b easy for me as i m not a shampoo/beauty-parlour person. I am a believer of desi stuff like shikakai and oil and use shampoo/conditioner less.

Bless you.
Ashi

its normal,,not much you can do,,your body is going thru wat we call post delivery trauma/depression and this is a phase..it will go away until your body comes to normal,,which is expected by 6montths...
however, you can try :
1.ask your dr, if you need ne multivitamin supplements,,most women after delivery,,get malnutritioned and due to this even though their body recovers,,,they have probs associated with hair, nails and periods...often multivitamin helps,,esp if you are breastfeeding..
2. wash your hair twice a week,in finger massage style : put the diluted shampoo in your palm, apply in wet hair, gently with sections,,give a fingertip massage, and run the shampoo comb thru the hair in the direction of grwth of hair and not in direction of your hairstyle !! i know you will be compromising here with messing with your hairstyle but thats not imp right now !! your hair needs to get some room for itself,,,once combed,,rinse them by massangin in the same direction,,rinse it well,,,
3. never use direct shampoo on hair,,take a cup, put water, and 1:1 shampoo,,and then rinse it.
4. never use shampoo plus conditioner, both are sep purpose,,using the combined product might not give the real effect of it,,instead use the cleansing shampoo and conditioner differently,,follow as recmnded (though use diluted only 1:1),,for both.
5.if you are comfortable applying oil,,apply ne brand of pure oil,,what matters is purity and not the type of oil..if you are using almond oil,,use the pure one,,worth paying for that,,,
once your hair is ttly dry,,apply with the same style you shampoo your hair,,section by section, with fingertips..warming your oil will stimulate the hair roots and your hair growth will increase...
effect of hair oil remains for first 2-3hours only,,so its not required by you to keep it for 3-4 days,,,roots are good enough to absorb the oil by then..always apply oil to the roots of oil thn the hair ends...its the roots that make your hair grow,,for easy maintnance you can apply with lil rub until the end of hair...
if you are applying hair oil, using conditioner is of no use,,of avoid that,,,your oil will b givng enough moisture or grease to your hair,,and using conditinr will form a layer of conditinr oils,,which will not let your hair absorb the goodness of hair oil !! so, avoid using conditioner if you are going to apply hair oil after the hair wash !!!
comb your hair gently and tie it gently,,try to tie in the style of bunch wherein all the hair stays together,,this way, your hair will remain hazzle free and wont tangle much,,

6.a good healthy diet, lots of proteins in your diet,,,lots of vegies,fruits/juices, and proper dairy serving in your diet will help your hair and skin to be healthy...so eat accordingly..a min of 2 dairy servings is required,,if at all you are breastfeeding,,check the allergy issues your baby might have due to dairy...

7..finally never tie your wet hair,,check on your bowels,,if they are irregular,,regulate them with some high fibr diet or ask your dr if you need something to clear your bowels,,surprising though it sounds,,but irregular bwels, heartburns, stomach upsets have been reasons for hair loss and skin dryness !! all this causes lack of apetite in longer run !
drink atleast 8glasses of water, in one day,,not to include enough fluids in your diet,,like dals, curries, soups, frresh juice drinks,or milk servings...
stay relaxed, calm yourself,,overstimulation or excitement or aggresive behaviour, mental distress or tensions related to issues around you will hamper in healthy hair growth or loss of hair !
take ample rest, sleep whenever you get a chance or whnever your baby is sleeping,,take lil naps,,leave all your work,,if you are healthy, you will be able to do the housework with a better speed instead of getting tired and doing the work slwly,,
enlist your priorities and your main ones should be your baby health and your health,,,rest all can be taken care of later on !!!
rem that if you are healthy, you will be able to deal with all things around you with priority planning and proper timing,,,but you need to take care of yourself !!

so thats all i have for you !

good luck, and take care,,remain relaxed as much as you can,,thats the only thing that will help you come out of the post natal stress....

RE: Eczema concern
Hello,

I had a similar query a few months ago concerning eczema occuring in toddlers. As far as I know, it can be due to a varrying number of factors and common foods that end up causing the condition in 1-2 year old toddlers.

In my research I found this article really helpful in addressing the problem:

I hope this helps! ... - Namita [View Message]
