Joint Family:Sil craving for sympathy
2006-04-15
Name: trapped

I am back again. Previously I had written about bossed by sil. Now sil desperately wants to get married and is keeping us away at all costs. My fil passed away many years back, but she is going around telling alliances that fil passed away a few years back and she was the bread winner ever since. Her elder brother (my husband) did not take any responsibility but got married before her and fled with wife. Though my husband and myself try our best to help sil, mil and bil, sil fights with us and asks us to leave her alone. Why can't she get married without trying to get sympathy and recognition from guys ? Why should me and my husband get tagged as bad for no reason ? How do I respond to such attitude ?

She might be feeling inferior to you guys and might be thinking that your interference will pull her down in the eyes of the ppl whose alliances are being sought.
So, just leave her alone and go on with your life. Things will change later when everything settles down.
Cheers,
Nishant.

Seriously...just ignore it. Truth can never be hidden. The guy she marries will finally see through all this BS.!!! Let her live her life..say whatever she wants..u live u'rs and just be ok with u'r mil.
People who tell lies and cross talk know they r doing wrong..and it eats at them. U think she has peace of mind. She has to always make sure her stories r right!!!! These kind of people cannot be happy in their life.
So just forget about her and ignore it. U Live u'r life away from her. That's it

Should a single man live with his mum in India?
I am a man in my late 40s and I have lived abroad in USA for the past two decades. I never had any interest in marrying or having kids so I never married. Recently my Dad passed away and my mother will be alone. I have made enough money to retire comfortably but because I am used to the American lifestyle I can't live in India. Recently my relatives have started saying tha... - Venkat Dabri [View Message]
