MIL's should be shot the moment you marry. LOL. But seriously how do you know this is how your MIL feels? Did she tell you this personally? If so were you alone with her then? And if not are you sure someone isnt trying to create problems by telling you these things? Just a few things to consider before trying to handle things.

I will be surprised if you have children & proove your MIL wrong because I believe she is correct in her thinking. But it is only natural that a child should be more important than anyone to its parents. I would try very hard to see her concerns as a backhanded compliment at your hubby. It is always better to twist things to make a prettier picture as it is easier to deal with such things when they sound nicer if you know what I mean.

Forget what your MIL wants and think about what you & hubby have planned. Because I can promise you that nothing in your life will ever compete with the lovliness of motherhood. I know just how hard it is when a MIL is like this or at least I can sympathize. I think to some degree many women understand your position. Be strong, certain & just make the most of hubby.

Hugs
Kate

Sorry to hear about your situation Sapna. But yes, such evil forces exist in our own families and it is sad. You know my MIL's MIL forced my MIL to have an abortion twice because she felt that her grand kid would take her son away from her. May be thats why my MIL is like a mother to me , she is so protective.

Coming to your situation do not bother about u r MIL's comments, just go ahead, and plan for a child. It is your life, also if she tries to tell u about not having kids, do not even bother to listen or comment. Once u conceive what can she do and what will she do?? Nothing. ENjoy your life with hubby and take care.

Hello Sapna,

I posted the last query on the message board, there I have mentioned how my MIL cried on the airport, asking my hubby how much will it cost when we will become 3?? They were totaly againsy having kid when I got married. They wanted me to get get a job, work for 2 years then go for kid, they think we cannot support our kid...then how did they do it???
Now its 3 years of our marriage and I have been trying to have a baby since last 2 years, no luck. I think the baby also knows not to come in this family, as it is full of GREEDY people. They think it will be extra burden on hubby. Also, they have consulted some astrologer, according to Mr. Astrologer, my hubby's horoscope shows a male child and mine a female....they say, if it has to be a child, then a boy....

I definitly want a girl child now....

I know how it feels...have gone through all this..still going through...

i dont know but y parents dont let their children live their lifes, they want to comfort their daughters and their son in law , but not their son and daughter in law, y so

in my case, my mil dont love my husband hahahah, at least i am saved here, bt still my in laws are really wht to say????????

y they dont let their kids enjoy their lives becoz in their time they got bad treatment so the same they will give to us, then this is stupid reason but in my case my mil never got ill treatment she enjoyed her life, then y she dont allow us to enjoy our lifes, but still we enjoy who care for them, i see sad faces when i go home, then i feel sad, becoz i came back thats y she is feeling sad, but yes for kids she never argued to not to have, even here everyone insisted to have kids as soon as possible after marriage. after 11 months of my marriage i had my baby, but wht else, u just dont tell in the beginning that u have conceived then go for the kid

and like u said husband , yes husbands are like that i have one of my friend her case is even more drastic, she is pregnant and by just one time , after her marriage she just once only had relationship with her husband, sad for her, he dont care for him

Should a single man live with his mum in India?
I am a man in my late 40s and I have lived abroad in USA for the past two decades. I never had any interest in marrying or having kids so I never married. Recently my Dad passed away and my mother will be alone. I have made enough money to retire comfortably but because I am used to the American lifestyle I can't live in India.
