Unexplained Infertility:*Large Fibroid* Need Advice

Hello Friends,

Me and my wife have been thinking of having a baby. We discoverd that she has a relatively large intramural uterine fibrod (11cmsX11.5cms).

The doctor we are consulting is of the opinon to remove the fibroid by operation. However, the chances of my wife loosing the uterus are high - given the size of the fibroid. The doctor will be able to tell definitely, whether she will be able to save the uterus or not, only, when she starts the operation.

We are looking for some advice from couples who have been in this situation or know of couples who have been in this situation.

We do not want to make any hasty decisions and repent later.

The doctor also states, it is risky to try and get pregnant as the pregnancy will get complicated (if at all we conceive).

ANy doctors in the US / India we can consult, who have hands on experience with these kind of cases?

Any advise will be highly appreciated ... we dont know - whom to approach.

Thanks...

My wife had one similar sized and she is 49 and wants IVF.

There was a chance of loosing the womb so the doc in London referred us to \" the best\" to reduce the risk.

Dr Alvan Robert Priddy, Clementine Churchill Hospital, Harrow, London

The op was a complete success.

Hi I can seriously understand what she’s going through, even I had a Fibroid sized 8cm & In India I consulted doctors for about 18 months [1 n half year] but doctors told me that there’s 1% chance if my uterus would be saved & 99% of loosing it… I went 2 Italy where I got the same response for another 8 months, I use to beg them to operate me as I was continuously bleeding from past 2yrs, my hemoglobin came down to 6gms but than someone advised me to go to Switzerland, as many people come there for operations {even from U.S, Germany, France etc…} so finally I went there within 1st week of consulting a doctor she gave me an operation date & finally I was been operated & same day I started walking & after 10 days I got my stitches opened & discharged from the hospital… & in 15 days I was back from Switzerland.. but doctors told not to conceive for about 1 yrs.. & Now its been 2yrs & I planning to conceive… I will pray for ur wife, & she seriously need ur support & love the max u can give her right now…

Do take care, Best of Luck….

IVF via Donor Sperm
Hi, we are planning for ivf via donor sperm as we have genetic history wherein my daughter is ASD and mine own brother is ADHD hence genetic counselor said there is risk of 15-20 percent of child being autistic if we use our own gamet. If male child is born the risk is higher than a girl child.

Hence we thought to go for donor sperm. But there is still... - SS [View Message]
