Could you give the list of international schools in Gurgaon. Iam moving from UK to India. Iam looking for a school for my girl whose 2.5 yrs which will be on similar lines as its in UK or better. Iam not really keen in putting her in traditional indian school

Happen to read your letter and I faced the same dilema a few months ago so visited and revisited several schools and finally have enrolled my child at the Excelsior American School. Its definitely a school with a difference and was taken away by the warmth expressed by all , so I think you must visit this school before you take a call. American Excelsior school which started last year as an extension of some American Montessari, boasted a lot about new way of teaching bla..bla. The school projected that its doing very good, but internally seems school is bankrupt. All the parents who showed faith in the school and its Director Shalini Nambier, have been cheated. The school promised last year that the fee will not increase for the next five years (which is already highest in Gurgaon), suddenly told parents to pay 400% of what they paid last year. This was not discussed or communicated properly to parents who showed so much faith in the school. Also during the year a lot of issues were highlighted by parents, a few of these are:

Schools claims to be an AC building, but AC runs once a while, upto the extent that one teacher fainted in the school due to no AC and lack of vantilation. The same is the case with school bus.
School claims to be a day boarding with two meals provided to childeren. The school terminated the caterer after few months and now teachers are cooking the food (teachers are not happy with this,as per them they spend more time on cooking than teaching)
Most of the teachers have resigned or are in the process of finding new jobs. (people can confirm this by visitng new schools in Gurgaon, where they can find all ex-excelsior teachers)
Presently school has only 5 teachers, upto the extent that if even a single teacher is absent, the kids are without any teacher or locked in the class room
The logic that was given to parents for the fee increase was that if Indians can buy sarees worth Rs 35000, why can not they pay a high tution fee
School did not add any new infrastructure during the year despite making a lot of promises at the beginning of last year
Last week one of the student met with an accident in the school and the student had a skull fracture and almost on the verge of loosing his eye was sent to a doctor and the person who accompanied him was the school gardner (no teacher / admn staff went with this little boy). Also instead of sending the injured student to a nearest hospital, they took him to a nursing home which is 10 km away from school and lost critical time. This shows schools responsibility towards students (most of them are in the age group of 5 and 8).
All the parents were told that scjool is not to make money but a charity trust, but suddenly Management decide to make it a money churning machine
All the parents who helped the school to establish last year, have already withdrawh their children and looking for new school. Till date the number stands at approx. 40 students (out of total strength of approx 120 students).
We "the distressed parents" request all the Gurgaonites to think twice before choosing American Excelsior.

I am based out of Gurgaon, staying here for some 4 yrs now. I have a 2.5 yr old daughter and I recently did a search for a good school for her. According to my survey, the playschools you have listed in one of your mails are good.

Apart from those, I have also heard a lot about SHALOM HILLS SCHOOL. I have visited it, talked to the teacher, too. Shalom Hills is also coming up with a school for elder kids. It is also near my residence so most probably I will be putting my daughter in this school.

Scottish High is a very new school. I asked people about feedback, but since its new, feedback was not much. I have seen the 'marketting' done by these people and the campus, facilities, \";promises\";, etc all seemed very appealing. I have seen the building too. It is located a bit far from my residence and I dont intend to put too much pressure on a 2&1/2 ur old so soon.
I can provide you the addresses of the schools you want along with fees-range. Let me know which school's addresses you want, and if possible, a hint about your residential area too, so that I can suggest good schools near it.

But all in all, Gurgaon is a place that's coming up really good, we have got great, international level schools here. So good that you might get confused which school is 'best'!

I am shifting from UK to India and would like to know if there are some good schools in Gurgoan which believes in personality development rather then academic excellence.

I don’t care for academics much and what matter most to me is child have good personality and is not burdened.
