Hi Hemani,

Sorry to hear about your iron-level. Please take the iron supplements with Vitamin C, it helps in absorption.

Good sources of Vitamin C are citrus fruits(Mango, Orange, Lemon, etc.,) and tomatoes. Cooked potatoes along with skin is fine too.

Talk to your doctor for more details.

Vindhya

Hi Jaya,

Congrats on clearing the sugar test and sorry to hear about your iron level. I have mild anemia too.

Hope you are taking your iron supplements with Vitamin C as Avi & Suma mentioned. I am sure your doctor would have given instructions on what a good time would be to take these. Do not take them with egg or diary products.

So, I take them in an empty stomach i.e, two hours after meal and have 2 spoons of Orange concentrate along with it. Do the same for your prenatal vitamins too. It takes a few days for our bodies to start absorbing iron.

In addition to the supplements, have iron-rich food. I've been taking fortified cereal(Total is the best), blackstrap molasses, and pumpkin seeds. I occassionally eat Spinach or any other dark leafy vegetable. Ofcourse, beans & legumes are best too.

Hope your iron level increases by your next test. As Preethu said, the baby will be just fine. You should take care of yourself to avoid fatigue.

Good luck,
Vindhya

Hi! Don't worry. Take your vitamins with glass of orange juice. It increases iron absorption. It worked for me.
Take care

Hi jaya
Donot worry . same happened with me too , suddenly the count became like 10.1 or so Doc gave me iron tablets and take lots of greens like spinach and dates ..milk and juices ..which pretty much boosts . Also Doc said baby will somehow take the Iron from us and if we take care to have iron rich foods we will not feel exhausted , black eyed .
Take care
Preethu

Hey Jaya, sorry to hear about the low iron levels.

I was a bit low on Iron too and I've increased my intake of iron rich foods and one thing that works well is taking something rich in Vitamin C (orange juice, lemons ) with iron rich foods..it will help in the absorbtion process...

Vindhya has been dealing with the same problem and I think she has been coping well with it.. I am sure she will be able to give you better input than me...

As long as you follow your docs advise and watch what you eat...the baby will be just fine..so, dont worry...

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
