Planning a Baby  Discussion Forum

Hi all,

We are planning to adopt a baby girl of less than 1 year age. We are currently staying in UK. I saw many posts here, where couple adopted from Maharashtra mainly from Lathur and came to know the waiting time there is less compared to Banglore.

Now my question to all those who have adopted from Maharashtra is, as we staying in UK(not premanently, software couple from Bangalore), is it possible to initiate the Adoption process from UK itself or is it that we have to start the process only after going back to India?

We are going back to India in October this year.
We are childless couple and desperately want to adopt.

Adoption through recognised orphanages is highly recommended as they may suggest a child that will as far as possible match the profile and physical charateristics of the parent/s. In some case even the linage of the orphan child is known but kept confidential and records are sealed. I recommend that you try Janani Ashish in Dombivili East, Maharashtra or Matruchaya in Goa. Private adoption through close relatives is also possible if close relatives are ready to oblige, but may pose problems in the long run. Adoption through charitable hospitals may not be recommended as you may not know the health related issues of the biological parents.
