Hi,

I live in the US. I am going to India for vacation. I am planning to do IVF.
Can anone tell me what it involves? I read somewhere in this message board that it takes a week for the wife and 2/3 days for the hsband. How is that? What do they do each day?
Also we are not plannig for me to get pregnant right away. Is there a way to store the, I don't know what they are called, after my eggs are combined with my husband's sperm?

To start IVF it will take from 1 to 2 months. I don't know whether u've done all the basic testings like blood test for hormones, Laprascope to check the tube, endometeris etc. If u've done all those testing then it will take atleast one month to do IVF.
Steps involved in IVF.
1. On Day 2 or 3 of ur periods they will do some blood test and scan.
2. They will give some medicine to be taken from Day 5.
3. Day 10 to 14 they will again to scan to see the follicles.
4. If the follicles are grown and ready for ovulation they will give u hcg injection to release the egg.
5. the following day they will retrieve(aspiration) the egg, for this they will give u general anesthesia.
6. After this they will combine ur egg and ur husband's sperm to form the embryo.
7. Then they will transfer the embryo to the uterus the following day, for this also they will give u general anesthesia(low dosage).
8. After this u've to take some medicine and also some injection.
9. Then they will do some pregnancy test after 10 day i.e from embryo transfer.
10 It is possible to keep embryo frozen for later use.
My advice is don't rush thro' this, IVF will take some time don't get tensed in this process.
I know this because i did the same thing i.e i went to India to do IVF, it took me 4 months to do everything.
So don't worry u'll be successfull in this process.
