Due Date Club December 2005:Archie & All my appointment update
2005-09-13
Name: ammy

Hi Archie and all,
Thanks for your support... My Gync appointment was ok. Could not make it yesterday evening as DH was busy with his project. So met her today morning.
1)I have gained 3KG weight within these 15days... and 13KG's till today. And I am sure I will gain somemore in coming weeks... Archie pls tell me is this OK or should I control my diet? I am not sure how I am going to shed the weight after delivery.
2)My leg's had swelling today morning.. she told me to keep the leg elevated in home as well as in office, and also has asked me to sleep 8hrs in night and 2 hrs in day(if I am in home). But I am not getting any sleep in night...but feeling sleepy right now.
3)I wanted to take leave from 10 Nov and do the travel to my mom's place on 12th Nov... But my Gync told me NO. She told me to travel before one month... So now I am planning to travel on 5th November(my EDD is 4th Dec). Archie just wanted to confirm with you is it OK to travel 4 weeks before the EDD. I will be travelling through train only. Its nearly 8hrs journey.
4)Last but not the least.... As I had told you previously that my Gync has a Scan machine at her clinic.. She did the scan and told me that the Placenta has move considerablly upward so now there is no need to worry on that part. She did not give me that exact mesurement as to what exactly is the difference between the Cervix and the Placenta. So hoping that in coming weeks it will still move upwards..

So guys this is my update. My next appointment will be on 23rd of this months.

Hi ammy,
Congrats. Everything went good with your appt. About the weight I read in some book or may be in a journal the clinic gave me they said after birth u'll fit the dress u used to wear in 6th month. And also at the time of delivery at a stretch they loose 13-15lbs So its ok. Cheer up .
How's the little princess doing (accd ccal girl right?)

Enjoy!

Hi Ammy,

Am very happy to hear that your placenta has moved upward, now you have nothing to worry. About the weight, follow Archie's advice and you will anyway lose most of it after the delivery as suggested by Shazia. Another one and half months and you will be off to Dharwad..you have so much to look forward to. Take care and relax whenever you get a chance.

Dear Ammy,
1. What week you are into? This is important to judge your weight gain. Regardless looks like you gained good weight. Try to minimize carbohydrate. Do not give up on fats as in third trimester your littleones brain is being developed and fats are good for that. Unless you cross the limits I would suggest to continue regular intake of fats, not extra though. But limit carbohydrates and salt in diet.

2. limit or almost avoid salt in diet. 8 hours train if in second class AC or not in crowded sleeper coach (non-AC) should be OK. Only thing I want you to have done is an internal check up say a day before you are on train. This will tell us what's in store.

3.Have internal check up one day before train. Walk in the train as much as possible, within the compartment and on stations where train might have stop over 15 minutes.

4. I am glad that placenta is moved upward. Does not matter if the details are not there, you are all set.

Archie

Hi Ammy,

Good that your placenta has moved up...that must be quiet a relief.
All the best for your next appointment.

I thought the exact placenta position is determined at week 32 scan, did she ask you to go for that.

take care,
Deepti.

Good to know that everything is ok. And nothing to worry abt weight. by the way what was ur weight when u got pregnant. if u were somewhere arround 55 to 60 and now u have put on 13 then its ok . cos when i first got pregnant my weight was 55 and with the baby just few mins before delivery i was 79. my doc said it was ok. after delivery the 5th day i checked my weight and i was 66.i had lost 13 kgs in one shot. but the doc said that if i dint exercise after 40 days i might gain more and then it will be difficult to lose. i was lazy and above all My MIL was feeding me too much ghee and heavy food so that my baby gets good milk. so i gained a lot of weight.Only one thing u need to do at this time is that u dont eat lotsa fatty things like ghee ,butter and cheese. cos these are very heavy . eat but very little.

till date i have put on only 4kgs. I was worried but doc said not to cos as iam a bit on the heavy side it is good for me. now with the baby my total weight is 84kgs. I hate it when the doc calls me obese. she also kills me with this word. :(

so u just take care abt fatty things. first pregnancy u do put on weight but u lose a lot too. the extra weight u put if u work on it immediately after 40 days of ur delivery believe me u will be a chic again.

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
