Due Date Club November 2003:any ideas???

Hey guys, I know I keep bothering ya'll with all my problems but since you guys are so nice and kind and sweet and understanding I just cant help but do it to you.. :)

Well I had been wearing this ring (that has my birthstone) that my mom gave me as a gift for a while now and I realised over the weekend that I cant seem to get it off my finger anymore...
I did try getting it off by using soap but no luck yet..and it is only getting tighter by the minute..

Does anyone have any other suggestions..before I go to the jeweler and ask him/her to break my mommy's gift into two (the ring is so tight, I dont know how he/she can even use a plyer on it)..

Hi Avi. Sorry to hear about the ring confusion, me too realised that I have stone ring in my left hand n it is getting tighter by the day. Bit superstious about removing it so soon though as it helps me mentally, i.e. knowing it keeps nerves calm etc. I may manage to take it off for now but wondered is there any specific reason apart from discomfort that u wanted it off? Did doc say we can't wear jewellery during labour etc? I guess I best take it off in good time too, hope for the best.
Thx. Simmi

Hey Simmi,

A few years ago, I had to be admitted in the hospital here for a bladder infection and I was asked to take out all my jewelry including my rings..Thats the main reason behind me wanting to take this ring off...
It being too tight is another reason..

I wanted to take it off and wear it on another finger for now and I would suggest you do the same (while you still can take it off). I feel you on the superstition part, I feel the same about my ring..It's been on me for a while now and I would hate to have it cut..

Take cARe

Subject:  Soap is the only idea I have

Hi Avi,

I cannot think of any other solution other than soap. But, I did find the following information on a jewelry site:

A customer came in this morning with a ring that she hadn't been able to remove for the past 2 months. Time to cut it off. But instead of cutting and carefully bending the shank (partially because I didn't want to risk deforming the fragile areas nearby) I remembered a yellowed copy of a newspaper article in my desk I meant to try sometime. It was a hint sent in by someone whose husband was an embalmer, you thread one end of a string (I used what was available at the shop - embroidery floss, but I wonder if dental tape would work even better) ... anyway you thread one end under the ring (towards the palm) and wrap the other longer end tight around the finger starting from the ring ending just past the far side of the knuckle.
The customer held that end taught, while I started to unwrap from the other shorter end. As you unwrap, the ring slowly slides forward and over the knuckle! I had to use some gentle force, and she said it hurt a bit, but she was thrilled it didn't have to be cut and took so little time to do. I assume it can be a little risky - it blocks off quite a bit of the blood running to the finger tip for a couple minutes, and I wonder if there's the possibility of it getting stuck right at the knuckle.

HTH,
Vindhya

Hey Vindhya,
Really, what would I do without you???? I would be lost in the deep dark woods not knowing where to go.. :)

this sure does sound like a good idea, and I see the logic behind it too... but like it says, mine might get stuck at the knuckle if it even gets all the way up there.....You wont believe how tight it is right now (I am such a fool to not have noticed it until now).

I will try the oil like Ashra suggested and then will try this technique out too...If none work, then I gots to go to Bombay Jewelers :(

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
