Hi,
My daughter has been diagnosed for eczema, she has rashes on her cheeks and also the skin on her leg and hands is very dry , right now I give her a castor oil massage and then use the dove soap, after bath I apply J&J baby powder, am I doing something wrong ?

My doctor has given me a med for eczema which works for 2 days and then its back, feeling so sad that this will never go away , any help

Usha

Hi,

I'm from the march 2005 board. My son also has dry skin and is prone to atopic rashes. I've reduced usage of soap (even baby soap) to once a week. Also, I usually add a cup of milk and tumeric to his bathing water (lukewarm). Before bath I apply oil (not on face) and after bath and and night I apply a lotion made of equal quantities of rose water (Dabur) and glycerin. With this my baby's rashes have disappeared !

You can also try it. All the best !

Pooja

Hi Usha,
Its good idea to stop using Powder & use olive oil. Also avoid using Soap since Adult soaps are not suppose to be used for kids.
If you are in a colder place bathe your baby once in 2 days for some days & see if that works.
I wish you good luck
Sandhya

Hi Usha
Try to avoid soap..babies as young a yours do not really get dirty..baby wash is more than ok for them..after bath put a heavy cream(not lotion)..try Aveeno baby cream(not lotion)..also during t he day whenever you can put that cream..hope it helps..

oh..also baby powder isn't good for this age..it may go into the lungs + they also clog the natural pores..avoid them totally..
