Due Date Club November 2003:Severe heartburn
2003-09-09

Hi Girls,

I just entered third trimester last week and have been welcomed by itching, back pain, heartburn, etc.

The worst part of heartburn is having severe stomach ache. Yesterday, I couldn't sleep because of this. Drinking milk aggravates the problem, so have totally stopped drinking it. I did visit the doctor last week and she did recommend Tums. But, it is not helping me at all. I prefer Pudin Hara over Tums. Is Pudin Hara safe during this time?

I am sure some of you have gone through heartburn in the first trimester(but not hoping so), please do let me know what you did to overcome this. Thanks for your help.

Vindhya,

Sorry to hear about the heart burn, hope you are feeling better. Have never had it (so far), so cant give any advise from personal experience. But I do remember reading somewhere that a lot of OBs have been recommending Mylanta.

On a different note, I did get the 3D US done last saturday and it was AMAZING!!!!! The baby was asleep, but we got some really cool shots of his face. he is absolutely ADORABLE!!!!! (Of course I am already the proud mom).
The only drawback being that I wanted him in my arms right away, but of course he still has a lot of growing to do in there.

Avi, do let us know how your appointment goes.

Take care ladies!!

Avi/Vindhya,

Thanks for all the good wishes girls. They did give me the weight and a heads down position, but I have another U/S (the doc wants me to go in) on the 17th and am going to get the measurements then.

It definitely is an amazing feeling to see the baby though. (And I personally feel that's about all you should expect to take away from this.) Leave the rest upto the Doc.

Good luck.

Hey RAdhika, I've been thinking about you since SAturday and wondering how your US went......I am so glad that you enjoyed the experience.

I am a bit anxious about seeing the little one inside me and I've been noticing that 5 pm (my appointment time) is when he is usually quiet, so hopefully the food will wake him up and he will be up and about..I will surely keep you guys updated..

Did they give you an estimate of your baby's weight and age????
It's not too long before you have him in your arms mommy dearest... :)

I am glad for u.. :)

Take CARe

Hi Radhika,

I'll talk to my doctor about Mylanta, thanks for the tip.

Regarding 3D, its so exciting. The baby sounds so adorable, my hugs to him(Ofcourse after he is born). I have taken an appointment for 4th of October, which is a Saturday too.

How many pounds is he weighing now? Is he heads down, ofcourse he would be. But, I just wanted to know if they infact check all this, or just give us those shots that we all need.

Avi, let us know how your's will go this Saturday.

Hey Vindhya, welcome to the third trimester club and all the aches and pains that are part of parcel of it... :)

I am in the same boat, with the itching and the backache but for now I experience only occasional heartburn.. When I do have it, I make sure I walk for 20-30 mins after eating (and before going to bed)..
I also put some flavored milk (I cant drink cold regular milk) in the freezer for a while and gulp it down and that surely makes me feel much better
but since drinking milk doesn't seem to help you, it might not be what you would want to do....
My cousin, who is also pregnant, told me that eating more coriander and mint helped reduce her heartburn.

HOpe you feel much better soooooon...
We are on the last stretch Vindhya, just hang in there... :)

Hi Avi,

I will definitely follow the advice on eating more corainder & mint, may be prepare chutney or something.

I did walk for 10 minutes yesterday. But, I don't think I can do the 20-30 minutes one. I am just too lazy(What an inspiration to others!!)

As you said, we should be happy that it is the last stretch and have to hang in there as that is the only alternative.

Hope you feel better too and don't forget to gain weight.

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
