all your questions are solved in point no 10///the link that i gave....read that.seems you didnt read it.
there is diff between a traditional practice that a culture follows and it might have cured some % of cases,,but it doesnt mean it will cure all of them or it might even prove harmful to your baby. many a times, some of these practices are given the name of ayurvedic practice..because as to what i know ayurvedic drs never recomnd doing those things on infant :)
its only by word of mouth that its spread and sometimes it helps and sometimes it becomes serious. during my practice we have had patients,,one of them gave garlic oil drops to loose mucus,,wat you think baby reacted ?? nose got red, nasal passges got severe swelling..baby could resist crying at every breathe !
and the nasal spray that you are using is nothin but the salt water//sodium chloride water,,which is much lightr and better/safer to use thn something like castor oil or honey (sticky and might choke the baby)..
those practices are to be followd in presence of someone who has done it practiclly and knows it well how to do it carefully so that baby is not hurt or knows the worst effects if not done properly,,and not when you are alone...
1month age is too early to decide wther its cold or infant congestion....
and when it comes to stuffiness in nose,,most infnt get that,,the simplest reason to it is thr nasal passges arent mature..until now they were in your womb inside water,,they never had to breathe or make sure of those passges except gulping the amniotic fluid,,but now they are using it...9months in water and thn all of sudden out !!! infant nasal passges are just the rght candidate for open air, microscopic allergens to trigger mild congestion,,its quite normal until almost 3-4months.
even my baby had that and of all 14 babies i have taken care of in my family or outside family,,they too had them ! they outgrow that...just make sure from your side that its not converted to cold ! thats y i told to do above things.
about your eating ghee in panjiri etc does not effect the stuffiness. ghee is converted to fat and will give high fat hindmilk from your milk and not mucus ! as far as i know panjiri has many hot things too,,and to balance that we put lot of ghee in it...
so its balanced well ! you are not eating pot ful of ghee,,,are you ?
about nose full of mucus,,like i said before,,just make sure that watver congestn has occured with those lil allergens and nasal passges gettng matured,,is not cold..as far as the colour of mucus is of normal colour,,no worries,,if its diffrnt colour like darker or black,,it means he is gettng mild cold..
and spray the nasal spray,,it will loosen it and it will run out of nose on its own,,if not,,after a couple mins,if you use the nasal bulb,,it will not hurt baby and the mucus will come out without ne friction.you will come to know whther the frictn is occurng or not when you suck the mucus out... and if you feel a bit more spray is needed,,go ahead and try that...it will not harm baby,,thats for sure !
all this in goodwill thn trying somthng that is not approved medically ....atleast not when you dont have ne elder present who knows it well how to do, n all details.
its difficult to roll back when it comes babies health below 6months...as medicatns cant be given much and this the time he has to grow and not struggle with all these remedies...
so take care,,,if you feel that remedy will help your baby to avoid something that is natural to happen and is normal,,,,upto you..my work is done here !!!!!
good luck
