Not Planning a Baby:Is FEMILON a good OC?

Name: Amrita I have recently married and my hubby and me dont plan to have a kid right now (at least till a year). I have been prescribed FEMILON by my gynae as both of us do not want to use a condom (at least till 6 months). My doubt is: Every OC has a side effect so how safe and effective is Femilon compared to other OCs like Ovral - L, Ovral - G, Saheli etc...

I am a pharmacist and Desogestrel and Ethinylestradiol the medication inside femilon has been proven to be safe and effective. Femilon has been on the market for many years. Femilon is proven

Hi Amrita, I know this is an old post, but I wanted to make sure that everybody knew that Femilon is a safe method. I am a pharmacist and Desogestrel and Ethinylestradiol the medication inside femilon has been proven to be safe and effective. Femilon has been on the market for many years. Condoms are not 100% effective, you should use both condoms and birth control pills. Be safe.

Oral contraceptives like Femilon are good but they do not ensure protection from HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. Therefore, if you are seeking protection against diseases do not go for Oral contraceptive pills and use condoms.

OC vs condoms or nothing at all

OMG, I can´ t believe people can be SO ignorant! Interrupted ejaculation DOES NOT prevent pregnancy. Try to masturbate without coming and you´ ll notice that the tip of your penis becomes a little wet. This is sperm, and there is more than enough of it to get a girl pregnant. Second: Condoms have to be worn properly in order to prevent pregnancy. Unfortunately, they break a lot, you get distracted when you have to put it on and people just don´ t know how to use them. That´ s why their efficiency is only 80% compared to the OC that gives you 99% if taken regularly. Calendar method is very risky. Of course there are possible side effects, but if you estimate the risk of getting pregnant, OC and all other hormone contraceptives (patches, injections) would be the safest choice. Besides, nowdays the amounts of hormones in a pill have come to a minimum and do no usually produce any side effects.

My hubby used condoms and we used to do it without any barrier on safe days but I did become pregnant. if possible you can use birth pills and condoms for extra safety.

My hubby and me follow the calender method in which we have unprotected sex just after my periods: 5 days after the last day and 5 days before the 1st day of my next cycle. Is it risky? We dont want to start a family right now...maybe by the end of the year but not now...
