Due Date Club February 2008:Peanuts?

Is peanuts safe during pregnancy? Somebody told me keep away from peanuts since I don' t know if my developing baby might have peanuts allergy. I' m in US where peanut allergy is common. I am not allergic to peanuts though. Please share your views.

I am from Jan.board.

My husband has hayfever so my doctor asked me to avoid peanuts:-( But if you and your husband has no allergies i think it' s ok to have peanuts.

Peanuts are safe. rather if you become gestational diabetic in 3rd trimester, peanuts can be best protein source for vegetarians.
if you or your partner has Eczema or peanut allergies then it is good idea to limit peanut consumption.

I am from Jan board and eating any and all nuts are fine but do avoid peanut butter as studies show consumption of peanut butter leads to allergid reaction in some case.

So u can enjoy your nuts

In Us doctors suggest taking peanuts while you are pregnant. So its absolutely fine for u to eat peanuts.

You eating peanuts is fine.

It is when the baby is born that you should not give any kind of nuts i.e. peanuts, pecan, walnuts etc to the baby till he/she is one year old. Otherwise they might develop allergies.

Hi CK,
I wouldn' t worry about it. I am not allergic to Peanuts and I ate them in first pregnancy and now too. My son is fine.
I don' t think you would want to worry about what baby is allergic from now on. We live in US too :)
