Hi
Yes I agree with Anu, we have to keep options open. And its indeed so relieving my frends told to have epidural. I want to share my frends experience too. Her water broke on a winter snow storm day, with great difficulty her hub took her to the hosp, roads were so bad and zero visibility. When she got admitted, her doc was in another emergency in another hospital. He had to come in helicopter to come to her(all doc fly in helipads I believe in such scenarios). Coz of the weather her doc cud neither fly nor come by road even though he was jus 45 min away. And all midwives and nurses took care of her, and they DID NOT give epidural coz only doc shld authorise it I suppose, she was in tears but somehow had 100% natural delivery with no stiches, no epi, no drugs nothing. She was perfectly normal the next morning coz it was all natural. Her daughter is so cute and nice.. She stil cant forget her pains that day, but we have to be open and be ready for anything, coz u never know whats going to happen the day of ur delivery.
Personally, I prefer taking epi, but coz its twins I have more chances of
c-section, I am ok with that too.

Hi Khushi,

I did talk to many of my friends about the epidural, some of friends had taken that and some were able to do it with out that. All my friends suggested that not to make any decision now itself. My suggestion to you would be to keep an open a mind and not decide anything beforehand like you WILL take or NOT take. Knowing about it before hand is very good. The reason I said not to decide is because till labour starts you wont know how the pain is going
to be and how you will be able to withstand it. Some women take the pain very well and dont need it at all. For some the labor is very quick itseems. For some it will be difficult and will become a life savior. Sometimes they say it may slow the labour. so the doctors give it only after you are 4cm dilated. We might have extended but painless labour if we takle it. So read up everything about it and if you are taking Lamaze classes, you will get lot of information there also. They also say sometimes it may make the baby less alert. And there are some side effects also. You can clarify with your doc.

I am thinking I will go as long as I can without epi and then take it when I feel that I cannot tolerate the pain...

its all upto you at that time. Just keep an open mind. Talk to your doc also.. see what she says. Hope this helps

Take care
Anu.
